IGS is currently recruiting a remote Senior 508 Tester to support our work. Please note the role is contingent upon award. 

Assignment of Work and Travel:

This is a remote access assignment. The Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access IGS systems and therein use approved IGS provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested. Ideal candidates will be local to the Washington D.C. Metro area in the event onsite client meetings are required. 

The Senior Section 508 Accessibility Tester serves as a technical lead responsible for evaluating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) products and services for compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) AA Success Criteria. This role supports Digital Accessibility Program by conducting advanced accessibility assessments, overseeing testing methodologies, validating automated scan findings, mentoring junior staff, producing conformance reports, and providing expert accessibility guidance to federal stakeholders.

Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):

  • Conduct comprehensive accessibility assessments of websites, web applications, software, electronic documents, multimedia content, and other ICT products.
  • Perform manual and automated accessibility testing against Section 508 requirements and current WCAG AA Success Criteria.
  • Execute advanced keyboard-only, screen reader, color contrast, focus order, forms, and interactive component testing.
  • Validate and calibrate automated accessibility scan findings to identify false positives and accurately prioritize remediation efforts.
  • Produce detailed accessibility compliance reports and conformance assessments.
  • Document accessibility defects and provide recommendations for issue remediation.
  • Develop and review Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs), VPATs, and test results.
  • Ensure testing documentation is complete, accurate, and audit ready.
  • Review accessibility scan outputs generated by enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Support scan calibration activities and trending analysis.
  • Identify recurring accessibility issues and remediation priorities.
  • Contribute to monthly accessibility reporting and executive summaries.
  • Recommend remediation strategies for websites, applications, documents, and other ICT assets.
  • Support intake, tracking, and resolution of accessibility service requests.
  • Participate in accessibility knowledge-sharing sessions and customer consultations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for accessibility policies, standards, and testing methodologies.
  • Mentor junior accessibility testers and review testing results for quality assurance.
  • Contribute to KPI reporting, process improvement initiatives, and accessibility maturity efforts.

Requirements
  •  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Accessibility Studies, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
  • 7+ years of accessibility testing experience with 5+ years of Section 508 and WCAG compliance experience. 
  • Experience testing enterprise web applications, websites, software, and electronic documents. 
  • Experience supporting federal government accessibility initiatives. 
  • Experience producing formal accessibility reports and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based architectures and modern digital service delivery models.
  • Expert knowledge of: Section 508 Standards. WCAG 2.1 or newer AA Success Criteria, Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA). PDF Accessibility, Microsoft Office Accessibility, Web Accessibility Testing Methodologies
  • Proficiency using accessibility testing tools such as: Axe, WAVE, Accessibility Insights, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Color Contrast Analyzer
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web technologies. 
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust 

Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:

  • Any of the following highly preferred: Trusted Tester Certification, IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS). 
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps environments. 
  • Experience reviewing VPATs and ACRs. 
  •  Experience supporting accessibility governance programs and enterprise testing centers. 
  • Knowledge of SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and Power Platform accessibility requirements
