Job description

Job Summary:

We are looking for a mid-level Software Engineer to join our data systems team, with a primary focus on the day-to-day processing, reliability, and performance of our billing engine and the data pipelines that feed it. This role requires a strong SQL foundation, comfort working in a cloud data warehouse environment, and the ability to understand and maintain a multi-step ETL process end to end. When not engaged in billing engine work, this person will support broader platform efforts, including API/interface work, cloud security safeguards, and services running in a containerized environment

Work Mode: Remote

Shift Timings: Monday to Friday 2:00pm to 11:30Pm IST
Location: Mumbai -Remote

Billing Engine & Data Processing

  • Monitor and support the daily processing of the billing engine, including troubleshooting and resolving data or processing issues as they arise.
  • Write, review, and optimize SQL queries and processes operating against high-volume datasets (tens of millions of records processed daily).
  • Understand, maintain, and enhance the ETL pipeline that feeds the billing engine, including data validation, transformation, and load steps.
  • Identify and implement performance improvements in data processing jobs and pipeline steps.
  • Write and maintain Python code supporting ETL and data processing workflows.
  • Document data flows, processing logic, and known issues to support team continuity and knowledge sharing.

Broader Platform Support

  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of GraphQL interfaces used across the platform.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining security safeguards across cloud environments.
  • Support and troubleshoot software running in a container orchestration environment and other cloud-based services.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established coding and data-handling standards.

Collaborate with onshore and offshore team members across time zones, including regular participation in team standups.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5-7+ years of professional software development experience across front-end and back-end work. Experience administrating AWS Redshift (ideally), or comparable high-volume data system/ETL experience
  • Working proficiency in Python for data processing or ETL-related development.
  • Experience with at least one major public cloud platform- AWS, Azure etc.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: data structures, APIs, testing, and version control.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned features while collaborating well with a distributed team.
  • Comfort incorporating AI-assisted coding tools into daily development work.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills for cross-team, cross-timezone collaboration.

Good to have

  • Experience with cloud data warehouse platforms (e.g., Redshift or similar).
  • Experience with GraphQL or other modern API/interface technologies.
  • Experience building security or compliance-related features in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with multiple cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, and/or GCP).
  • Experience contributing to a customer-facing product or portal.
  • Experience setting up or working with agentic AI coding pipelines.
