Job description

About the Role

OpenObserve is looking for a DevOps Engineer with strong hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability.

You’ll work closely with our engineering team to build, automate, scale, and maintain reliable infrastructure and deployment systems. We’re looking for someone who enjoys automation, understands production environments deeply, and is comfortable troubleshooting complex infrastructure and application issues.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for reliable and efficient software deployments.

  • Deploy, manage, and scale workloads on Kubernetes.

  • Design and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and/or OpenTofu.

  • Follow Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices for repeatable and scalable environments.

  • Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and observability workflows.

  • Work with tools such as Grafana and other monitoring/observability platforms.

  • Monitor infrastructure and application performance, availability, and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot production issues across infrastructure, networking, Kubernetes, and application environments.

  • Improve system reliability, scalability, security, and deployment efficiency.

  • Collaborate closely with developers to improve developer experience and deployment workflows.

  • Identify repetitive operational tasks and automate them wherever possible.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of hands-on DevOps / Cloud / Infrastructure experience.

  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.

  • Good working knowledge of AWS and its core infrastructure services.

  • Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with Terraform and/or OpenTofu.

  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code concepts and practices.

  • Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting.

  • Hands-on experience with Grafana.

  • Good understanding of Linux, networking, DNS, load balancing, and cloud infrastructure fundamentals.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve production and infrastructure issues independently.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving engineering environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience operating large-scale or distributed systems.

  • Experience with GitOps and Kubernetes deployment tools.

  • Experience with Helm.

  • Familiarity with Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, logs, metrics, and traces.

  • Scripting/automation experience using Python, Bash, or similar tools.

  • Experience supporting highly available production environments.

  • Previous experience working with observability, developer infrastructure, DevOps, or cloud-native products.

We’re looking for someone who likes to automate rather than manually repeat, enjoys solving infrastructure problems, and cares deeply about reliability and operational excellence.

What we offer

  • Opportunity to work on a cutting-edge open-source project with a growing community.

  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment with a remote-friendly culture.

  • Professional development opportunities, including conference sponsorships and training.

  • Flexible working hours

  • Health benefits
