EHS Manager - Remote - East

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), the Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety, is responsible for assisting operations with implementing SiteOne Landscape Supply EH&S Management system, developing, and implementing effective injury prevention programs, driver safety and compliance initiatives, and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

The Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety will have designated division responsibilities along with corporate program responsibilities while partnering closely with all levels of the SiteOne field leadership team and functional support teams to strengthen the EH&S culture and improve organizational performance.  The successful candidate must have demonstrated skills in implementing processes that lead to sustained EH&S performance improvements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of SiteOne’s EHS policies, standards and injury prevention programs
  • Lead regional level incident investigation reviews, including near misses, workplace injuries, and commercial vehicle accidents, while overseeing the root cause and corrective actions process to successful completion
  • Demonstrate consistent leadership, coordination and effective communication with field leadership and branch associates to drive continuous improvement
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert on DOT/FMCSA requirements including roadside inspection performance, vehicle accident investigations, and FMCSA drug and alcohol clearinghouse.
  • Partners closely with fleet and operations teams to leverage telematics and vehicle dash-cam systems to improve driving behaviors and compliance
  • Collaborate closely with field and functional teams, insurance adjusters to effectively manage OSHA investigations and insurance claims; serve as a company safety representative during litigation and settlement negotiations.
  • Oversee environmental program compliance and reporting for division (i.e., Haz Waste, EPCRA, NPDES, SPCC)
  • Review and analyze with large date sets and be able to identify risk and trends to support continuous improvement decision making and initiatives
  • Routinely visit company-wide locations to provide support to field associates
Skills We Are Seeking::
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental, Risk Management or Engineering field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in an EHS role required
  • Practical hands-on working knowledge of OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, and EPA regulations required
  • Experience developing and leading commercial driver safety and DOT/FMCSA compliance programs for a large commercial fleet required
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish credibility and trust with colleagues, branch associates and field leaders
  • Strong organizational, project management, data analytics, and problem-solving skills to assist with developing trend analysis and performance indicators that support the development and execution of continuous improvement strategies
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects to completion
  • Relevant technical certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), DOT, Smith Systems, environmental (CHMM) certifications preferred
  • Experience working in warehousing, wholesale, or distribution industry a plus

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time within US and Canada
