Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

As the Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of SendCutSend's environmental, health, and safety programs across all facilities. You will be responsible for building and maintaining a world-class safety culture that protects employees, supports operational excellence, ensures regulatory compliance, and enables sustainable business growth.

This role serves as the strategic leader for all EHS initiatives, partnering closely with operations, facilities, engineering, maintenance, human resources, and executive leadership teams to drive proactive risk management, environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement. The Director of EHS will establish standards and systems that scale with the company's rapid growth while reinforcing SendCutSend's commitment to safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll do

• Develop and execute a comprehensive EHS strategy that supports business objectives across multiple manufacturing facilities.
• Establish, maintain, and continuously improve company-wide safety management systems, policies, procedures, and training programs.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and other relevant agencies.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action implementation, and trend analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and manage environmental compliance programs, including waste management, hazardous materials handling, air quality, and sustainability initiatives.
• Conduct facility audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify opportunities for improvement and reduce operational risk.
• Partner with operations leaders to drive employee engagement, accountability, and ownership of safety performance.
• Develop EHS metrics, dashboards, and reporting systems to measure program effectiveness and communicate performance to leadership.
• Lead emergency preparedness, business continuity, and crisis response planning efforts.
• Manage workers' compensation, return-to-work programs, and injury prevention initiatives.
• Support facility expansions, new equipment installations, and operational changes by ensuring EHS considerations are integrated into project planning and execution.
• Build and develop a high-performing EHS team capable of supporting a growing multi-site manufacturing operation.
• Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, auditors, insurance carriers, and external consultants as needed.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement and proactive safety leadership throughout the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or related environments.
• 5+ years of experience leading multi-site EHS programs and teams.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation programs, and environmental compliance standards.
• Demonstrated success building and improving safety culture in fast-paced operational environments.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills.
• Ability to influence and partner effectively with leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.
• Experience developing EHS metrics, reporting systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ability to travel between company facilities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar professional certification.
• Experience supporting metal fabrication, sheet metal manufacturing, CNC machining, laser cutting, powder coating, anodizing, or other industrial manufacturing operations.
• Experience implementing ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or similar management systems.
• Experience supporting rapid organizational growth and facility expansion projects.
• Strong knowledge of environmental permitting, sustainability initiatives, and corporate ESG programs.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.

Essential Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout manufacturing and warehouse environments for extended periods.
• Ability to conduct facility inspections in production areas with exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial processes.
• Ability to occasionally climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated work areas while adhering to safety requirements.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, and other protective equipment as required.

Work Environment 

• Primarily onsite within manufacturing and warehouse environments with periodic office-based work.
• Frequent interaction with production equipment, material handling systems, and industrial processes.
• Exposure to manufacturing noise, moving machinery, metal fabrication processes, and varying temperatures in production environments.
• Regular travel between company facilities in Nevada, Kentucky, and Texas.
• Fast-paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment requiring strong collaboration and adaptability.
