Job description

Role Objective

IncubatorLab AI is looking for a detail-oriented QA Engineer to join our dedicated Shopify platform team! We are building out a 24/7 Shopify QA function to ensure our storefront, checkout, and subscription experiences are fully monitored and issue-free. Working alongside our existing daytime QA lead, you will close the coverage gap during weekday evening/night shifts to maintain continuous platform health.

Shifts Available:

  • 5:00 PM – 1:00 AM EST (Mon–Fri)
  • 1:00 AM – 9:00 AM EST (Mon–Fri)

What You'll Do

  • Live Storefront Monitoring: Monitor the live Shopify storefront (resilia.shop) in real time for bugs, broken functionality, and visual regressions during your shift.
  • Deploy & Release Validation: Test and validate new deploys, theme updates, Liquid template changes, and app integrations before and after they go live. Perform smoke tests after every deploy pushed during your shift.
  • End-to-End Testing: Run manual and automated regression tests across desktop and mobile. Validate the checkout flow, subscription/sub-disclosure logic, discount codes, and payment processing end-to-end.
  • Bug Triage & Developer Communication: Document bugs clearly in ClickUp and GitHub Issues with reproduction steps, screenshots/video, and severity ratings. Communicate directly with developers on GitHub via PR code review comments.
  • Shift Handoffs: Own handoff notes at the start and end of each shift so issues carry over cleanly between coverage windows.
  • Ecosystem Spot-Checks & Escalation: Spot-check third-party Shopify apps for code conflicts and escalate customer-facing or revenue-impacting issues per our on-call protocol.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Communication: High/native English proficiency (written and spoken) is essential. Most coordination happens asynchronously via bug reports, handoff notes, and GitHub comments.
  • Industry Experience: 5+ years of experience in QA/testing, ideally within a fast-paced agency or a 6–7 figure+ DTC/e-commerce brand.
  • Shopify & Liquid Mastery: Strong working knowledge of Shopify backend organization (Admin, themes, apps, metafields) and proficiency with Liquid to read and understand template logic.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working in GitHub (branches, PRs, reviewing diffs, tagging issues) and a solid grasp of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to identify root causes.
  • Testing Rigor: Experience with structured manual test case writing, bug triage/severity classification, and cross-browser/cross-device testing (BrowserStack).
  • Mindset: Ability to work independently during off-hours shifts with minimal supervision and proactive communication habits.

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing subscription commerce (Recharge, Skio, Loop).
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium).
  • Experience with Shopify’s theme editor + Online Store 2.0 sections/blocks.
  • Background in CRO, Core Web Vitals/speed monitoring, or analytics (GA4/Shopify Analytics).

Working Hours & Culture

  • Contract Details: Full-time contract role with a standard 30-day trial period prior to permanent confirmation.
  • Shift Alignment: Reliable execution of your assigned Monday–Friday shift in EST with prompt response times to automated status/uptime alerts.
  • Developer Escalation: Senior developers review and merge production code. QA caught/documented issues are escalated directly to an on-call developer.
