Description:

CTG is seeking to fill a CL/SuperSession Systems Programmer / Mainframe Session Manager Migration Specialist position for our client.

Location: Remote

Duration: Ongoing Contract

Duties:

  • Lead the migration from CA TPX to IBM CL/SuperSession as the enterprise mainframe session management solution.

  • Provide end-to-end technical expertise for the CL/SuperSession product, including installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.

  • Understand and implement the various methods for selecting sessions within CL/SuperSession.

  • Configure and manage CL/SuperSession trigger phrases, keys, user profiles, and session definitions.

  • Understand the purpose and use of CL/SuperSession libraries and maintain the associated configuration.

  • Install CL/SuperSession and perform the Installation Verification Procedure (IVP).

  • Navigate and administer CL/SuperSession administrator dialogs and perform configuration and management functions through the administrator panels.

  • Understand and utilize CL/SuperSession commands and functionality.

  • Configure and support CL/SuperSession interfaces with VTAM.

  • Develop and maintain new user and session definitions.

  • Provide extensive expertise in the CL/SuperSession SSPL programming language and SSPL dialog development.

  • Convert existing TPX profiles, screens, scripts, and related session-management configurations to CL/SuperSession.

  • Analyze existing ISV software functions and, where possible, translate those functions into CL/SuperSession-based solutions.

  • Support migration activities while minimizing disruption to existing mainframe applications.

  • Collaborate with mainframe infrastructure, security, operations, and application teams throughout the migration.

  • Ensure the migration does not require changes to application development or application code.

  • Troubleshoot migration issues and provide technical guidance throughout implementation and stabilization.

Skills:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with IBM CL/SuperSession.

  • Strong knowledge of CL/SuperSession session selection methods, trigger phrases, libraries, commands, and administrator dialogs.

  • Extensive knowledge of CL/SuperSession SSPL programming and SSPL dialog creation.

  • Strong understanding of CL/SuperSession integration with VTAM.

  • Experience creating and managing CL/SuperSession user and session definitions.

  • Experience installing CL/SuperSession and performing the IVP process.

  • Strong JCL and z/OS skills.

  • Experience with TPX-to-CL/SuperSession migrations.

  • Ability to convert profiles, screens, scripts, and session configurations from TPX to CL/SuperSession.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to translate existing ISV functionality into CL/SuperSession solutions where applicable.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience supporting IBM z/OS mainframe environments, with significant hands-on experience with CL/SuperSession or comparable mainframe session-management products.

  • Demonstrated experience with end-to-end CL/SuperSession implementations, including installation, configuration, administration, SSPL development, and production support.

  • Proven experience migrating CA TPX environments to IBM CL/SuperSession.

  • Experience converting TPX profiles, screens, scripts, and related configurations.

  • Experience working with VTAM, JCL, and z/OS infrastructure.

  • Experience supporting complex mainframe migration initiatives with minimal impact to application development.

  • Strong ability to work independently as a subject matter expert and collaborate with technical teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.

  • Equivalent combination of education and extensive mainframe technical experience will be considered.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $95.00 to $115.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
