Description:

CTG is seeking to fill a Senior RACF Security Migration Specialist (TSS/ACF2 to RACF) position for our client.

Location: Remote

Duration: Ongoing Contract

Duties:

  • Analyze the client’s existing mainframe security environment using TSS or ACF2 and develop a comprehensive migration strategy aligned with business and technical requirements.

  • Conduct security assessments, vulnerability analysis, and compliance reviews to identify gaps, risks, and potential migration challenges.

  • Develop and maintain detailed migration project plans covering Planning, Conversion, Implementation, and Cutover phases.

  • Lead and execute complex migrations from TSS or ACF2 to RACF while minimizing downtime and impact to production environments.

  • Configure, implement, and integrate RACF within IBM z/OS environments based on security, compliance, and application requirements.

  • Install, configure, validate, and migrate RACF profiles, rules, permissions, and access controls to replace existing TSS or ACF2 security configurations.

  • Utilize IBM zSecure and other RACF utilities to analyze security environments, automate RACF command generation, and streamline migration activities.

  • Collaborate with system programmers, network engineers, application owners, and other technical teams to ensure successful RACF integration.

  • Troubleshoot migration issues and provide post-migration support, tuning, and validation.

  • Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops covering RACF administration, security management, and mainframe security best practices.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for RACF and provide technical guidance on IBM z/OS security architecture, administration, migration, and compliance.

  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage AI technologies for RACF security monitoring, analysis, automation, and operational efficiency.

  • Document migration procedures, security configurations, technical decisions, and operational processes.

  • Support knowledge transfer and development of client and internal technical teams.

Skills:

  • Expert-level knowledge of IBM RACF and z/OS security.

  • Strong hands-on experience with TSS and/or ACF2 and migrations to RACF.

  • Proficiency with RACF profiles, access controls, resource classes, permissions, and security administration.

  • Experience with IBM zSecure and RACF security utilities.

  • Strong understanding of z/OS system architecture and mainframe security concepts.

  • Knowledge of security assessments, vulnerability analysis, compliance requirements, and access governance.

  • Experience developing migration strategies, conversion plans, implementation procedures, and cutover plans.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Foundational knowledge of PL/I, Assembler, REXX, and Java.

  • Interest in artificial intelligence and its potential application to mainframe security monitoring and automation.

  • Excellent documentation, communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in IBM z/OS mainframe security, with significant hands-on RACF experience.

  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting complex migrations from CA Top Secret (TSS) and/or CA ACF2 to IBM RACF.

  • Experience performing security assessments and analyzing existing TSS/ACF2 environments prior to migration.

  • Proven ability to develop and execute end-to-end security migration strategies and project plans.

  • Experience configuring RACF and integrating security controls with mainframe applications, databases, system software, and infrastructure.

  • Experience using zSecure and other IBM RACF tools to automate and validate migration activities.

  • Experience providing post-migration support, troubleshooting, optimization, and knowledge transfer.

  • Experience working directly with clients and cross-functional technical teams in a consulting or project-based environment.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple migration activities and priorities.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent technical experience in IBM mainframe security may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $115.00 to $135.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
