Description:

CTG is seeking to fill a Storage Workstream – Mainframe Storage Systems Programmer (DFSMSrmm / CA 1 / IBM Z Storage) position for our client.

Location: Remote

Duration: Ongoing Contract

Duties:

  • Support the Storage Workstream for IBM Z mainframe environments, with a focus on storage management, tape management, and migration activities.

  • Provide configuration, installation, implementation, and operational support for IBM Z storage products and related software.

  • Assist with CA-1 Tape Management System to IBM DFSMS Removable Media Manager (DFSMSrmm) migration activities, including configuration, installation, migration JCL, and runtime parameters.

  • Provide configuration and installation assistance for IBM OMEGAMON for Storage, IBM Advanced Audit for DFSMShsm, and IBM Advanced Reporting for DFSMShsm.

  • Assist with CA FAVER to IBM Advanced Catalog Management (ACM) migration activities, including development and customization of JCL.

  • Support IBM Global Resource Serialization (GRS) migration activities, including training, creation and modification of PARMLIB members, and operational considerations.

  • Assist with CA Allocate to IBM Advanced Allocation Management (AAM) migration activities, including installation, configuration, and training.

  • Assess and communicate the operational impact of storage migrations and technology changes to storage administrators and mainframe operations teams.

  • Develop and maintain JCL, REXX, and Assembler programs to support storage administration, migration, and operational requirements.

  • Use TSO and ISPF to perform mainframe system administration, troubleshooting, configuration, and support activities.

  • Collaborate with systems programmers, storage administrators, operations teams, and other technical stakeholders throughout migration and implementation activities.

  • Provide technical guidance, documentation, knowledge transfer, and training related to IBM Z storage technologies and migration processes.

  • Troubleshoot storage-related issues and support ongoing operational stability within the mainframe environment.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a mainframe operations environment in an operational, service, consulting, or technical support role.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and using at least one of the following technologies, with the ability and desire to expand expertise across additional products:

    • DFSMSrmm

    • CA 1

  • Experience with IBM Z storage administration and mainframe storage management.

  • Experience developing or modifying JCL and working with TSO/ISPF.

  • Ability to write and maintain REXX and Assembler programs.

  • Experience supporting mainframe software installation, configuration, migration, and operational activities.

  • Knowledge of other z/OS software, including system operation and configuration and SMP/E.

  • Knowledge of storage-management products that compete with or complement the IBM products listed above is preferred.

  • Experience supporting or participating in mainframe storage migrations is highly desirable.

  • Ability to understand migration impacts on storage administrators and provide appropriate technical guidance and training.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience in mainframe systems programming, storage administration, or operations may be considered.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $115.00 to $130.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
