Health Quality Innovators (HQI) is seeking an experienced Controller to manage day-to-day accounting operations, monthly close and financial reporting, internal controls, contract billing, and audit coordination.

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Accounting, this is a hands-on role for an accounting professional who is comfortable working across financial reporting, federal contracting requirements, budgeting, and Deltek Costpoint. The Controller has no direct reports.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the monthly close process and prepare comparative financial reporting, including the trial balance, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, backlog, revenue summaries, and financial statements
  • Review unbilled revenue, unallowable expenses, pool allocations, KPIs, journal entries, and account classifications; prepare closing notes explaining anomalies and variances
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, depreciation, inventory, reconciliations, and required personal property tax returns
  • Ensure contract billing complies with contract terms, coordinate billing matters with project leaders and customers, and monitor past-due accounts receivable
  • Participate in the annual budget process and monitor revenue and direct and indirect cost variances
  • Prepare annual incurred cost submissions and provisional indirect rate requests and assist with Form 5500 filing
  • Coordinate external audits, including DCAA and other auditors, and prepare financial statements, schedules, footnotes, and information for the annual Form 990
  • Maintain and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and the Finance and Accounting manual
  • Set up projects and workforce in Costpoint in accordance with customer contract terms and maintain customer contract files
  • Prepare required customer financial reports and semi-annual small business reports and monitor compliance with small business goals

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience required
  • Minimum of three years of Deltek Costpoint experience required
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and application of accounting theory
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively in a team environment, and exercise sound judgment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Highly Desired

  • Experience with federal contract accounting, billing, and indirect cost structures
  • Experience preparing incurred cost submissions and supporting DCAA or other external audits
  • Experience with financial statement preparation, Form 990 support, and customer financial reporting
  • Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls
  • Deltek Costpoint expert

Travel:

Salary Description $88,278 - $139,266
