Financial Analyst – Inventory & Financial Reporting

Jasper, IN

1. Position Overview

The Financial Analyst is an existing role within Kimball Electronics Jasper. You will report to the BU Controller for Kimball Electronics Jasper (KEJ). You will support the accuracy of financial statements for KEJ, month end closing process, internal controls structure and providing accurate data for management decision-making.

2. Quick Summary

You will be "hands-on" and guide profitability through creative performance measures and to enhance decision-making through proactive and financial information. The Financial Analyst supports the BU Controller in providing Corporate Accounting with accurate financial information that supports KEI's internal and external reporting requirements. The Financial Analyst will also provide all accounting activities and reporting around the business units inventory and management of inventory.  Maintain close monitoring of operational spending through monthly analysis and reporting to drive OI performance from a balanced cost structure.  This position must be flexible in meeting the changing needs of the business unit across all departments including the accounting team and be a "big picture thinker" to understand the impact of the responsibilities being performed to the departments other related processes.

You Will:

Main Performance Goals

Short-term: (0 to 3 months)

•             Learn and perform month end processes required for accurate financial statements

•             Learn and understand Kimball Electronics culture (external candidates)

•             Understand the KEJ production facility to provide accurate financial data

•             Demonstrate ability to navigate important transactions in SAP and other applications / systems critical to the position

•             Obtain general understanding of Kimball Electronics inventory analysis and work with the inventory processes including weekly reporting

•             Own the record retention process

•             Generate monthly operational spending analysis and reporting

•             Learn and understand the 6S audit process then perform any necessary 6S audits

Midterm: (3 to 9 months)

•             Prepare and distribute necessary business reports (daily/weekly/monthly)

•             Work with the standard cost system

•             Help lead, manage, and perform Excess & Obsolete Inventory reviews

•             Customer Tooling management, analysis, and reporting

•             Rapid Prototype / New Product Introduction department with KE Jasper

•             Customer Profitability reporting & analysis

•             Dashboard and improvement projects development

•             Support BU Controller with the monthly financial reporting activities

Long Term: (9 to >12 months)

•             Main backup for Tariff Processing tasks

•             As a backup, prepare and submit SPR’s (Special Price Requests) as needed from information given

•             As a backup, maintain, from a functional application owner perspective, the SPR internal web-application – SPR Administrator

•             Understand the quote process and the customer profitability process and how both relate to the decision support data provided to management – as backup to the Finance Analyst (Quote Specialist)

•             Assist Supply Chain with Inventory Management and Control, leading to improved PDSOH and inventory reductions

•             Provide recommendations for business unit cost structure improvements with a focus on a mindful spending philosophy

•             Cross train with other Financial Analyst team members

•             Identify gaps / errors in current business processes and recommend solutions

•             Directly support enhancements and development of relevant business tools and systems

•             Assist in improving business processes driving for gains in efficiency & effectiveness

Other (ad hoc priorities):

•             Achieve Yellow and Green Belt Certification in KEJ's Six Sigma Program

•             Respond to audit inquiries promptly with thorough and accurate information

•             Help support internal control processes & reviews to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the business units financial statements

•             Decision Support-focused ad-hoc projects, manage different projects and bring closure

•             Proactively provide recommendations for customer cost down opportunities

•             Be a Change Agent, focusing on continuous improvement and innovation

You Have:

Basic Background Requirements

•             Minimum of 1 to 3+ years related work experience required

•             Ideal candidate will have Manufacturing Finance / Operational Accounting experience

•             The ability to work with different departments and all levels of the business

•             Detail oriented and emphasis on complete & accurate results

•             Problem solving / analyzing and interpreting data

•             Strong communication skills across all different functions of the business unit

•             Capacity to request and gather information proficiently 

•             Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed, takes initiative

•             Customer driven and focused, both internal and external

•             A bachelor's degree (typically accounting or finance) or equivalent work experience

•             Helpful, but not required are an MBA, CMA, CPA, or APICS (manufacturing) certifications

•             Cost Accounting and Standard Cost experience in a manufacturing environment a plus

•             Experience in Microsoft Office product, especially Excel, required

•             Helpful, but not required knowledge of SAP
