Job Summary

LATAM Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on, and collaborative LATAM Accounting Specialist to help drive financial accounting quality and efficiency as we scale our controllership function in the LATAM region. The LATAM Accounting Specialist will report to the LATAM Controller, assisting in the creation of a scalable, well-governed, and audit-ready accounting framework across the region. This role will act as the regional accounting focal point between LATAM operations, outsourced providers, and the global finance organization, ensuring consistency, visibility, process standardization, and compliance across multiple countries. This position requires strong accounting knowledge, problem-solving skills, a process-oriented mindset, and the ability to operate in a highly complex multi-country environment.
 

Your Impact

  • Support accounting operations across LATAM entities and coordinate activities with outsourced providers
  • Serve as the primary accounting liaison between local operations, corporate HQ, and cross-functional teams (FP&A, Tax, Legal) to align regional practices with global standards. 
  • Ensure consistency in accounting execution across countries and centralize regional accounting communication and follow-up
  • Support US GAAP and Local GAAP compliance, review accounting treatments and reconciliations, and analyze balance sheet and P&L fluctuations
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, supporting audit requests and statutory requirements
  • Structure, document, and implement accounting processes and controls to improve workflows, drive operational efficiency, and establish a scalable regional governance framework
  • Support ERP and system implementation initiatives, new legal entity enablement, and process harmonization
  • Improve financial data visibility and reporting consistency across the region

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with CRC (Brazilian CPA) and 5+ years of related work experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP and IFRS)
  • Experience in LATAM multi-country accounting operations for a multinational corporation, including working with external accounting or shared services providers
  • Familiarity with month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and journal entry preparation
  • Advanced English and Spanish communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Proven ability to bridge operational execution with accounting governance
  • Process-driven with strong ownership mindset, capable building scalable structures in growing organizations
  • Proactive self-starter comfortable navigating ambiguity and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Big 4 or other public accounting experience
  • Experience utilizing SAP and/or other large ERP systems
  • Eagerness to leverage AI and automation to enhance financial analysis and process efficiency
