Role summary
As Director of Business Technology, you will lead the technology function for a fashion and lifestyle company with an established modern tech foundation, including SAP S/4 HANA, integration middleware, Azure cloud infrastructure, and a centralized technology team in Romania.
The role requires a leader with strong technical judgment, business acumen, enterprise application experience, and delivery leadership, working through internal teams and external partners.
Your responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Advisory- Define the right technology approach for business challenges: evaluate options, challenge assumptions, make pragmatic recommendations.
- Own the IT roadmap, prioritizing by business value, risk, and cost.
- Maintain a coherent enterprise architecture to avoid architectural debt.
Application Landscape & Project Delivery- Oversee the full application portfolio: ERP (SAP S/4 HANA), E-Commerce (Shopify, Tradebyte), PIM (Akeneo), DAM (Bynder), integration middleware, and future additions (PDM/PLM, CRM).
- Near term: stabilize SAP S/4 HANA, select and implement a new PDM/PLM, elevate the E-Commerce setup (B2B + D2C).
- Ensure on time, on budget delivery of IT change projects.
Data & Analytics- Own the Data, Analytics & AI function (BI, data engineering, master data coordination).
- Guide the analytics team on new use cases, tooling decisions, and capability development.
- Identify and deploy simple, high impact AI use cases with a pragmatic, ROI driven approach.
Vendor & Partner Management- Manage external technology vendors and service providers in a best of breed, partner driven model.
- Lead vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.
Budget & Cost Management- Own the full IT budget, ensuring disciplined spending and clear ROI.
- Optimize OPEX and CAPEX; manage contract renewals and vendor terms.
Team Leadership- Effectively manage a geographically distributed, multi site, multi timezone team, ensuring smooth collaboration and consistent delivery across Romania, India, and external partners.
- Coach team leads, build a lean and adaptable team, drive a culture of pragmatic delivery and business partnership.
Your profile
- 10+ years in technology roles with at least 3 to 5 years in senior leadership managing cross functional teams.
- Leadership of distributed, international teams across multiple locations and timezones (e.g. Romania and India), including managing offshore resources and delivery partners.
- Proven ability to define the right technology approach for business problems: challenge, advise, and steer, not just execute.
- Strong vendor and partner management in a multi vendor application landscape.
- Experience managing enterprise application portfolios (ERP, E-Commerce, product management systems).
- Leadership of distributed, international teams.
- Budget ownership in the single digit millions (EUR).
- Remote work is possible; willingness to maintain regular presence at the Romania technology hub is expected.
