Job description

About Neat

Neat creates AI-native hardware and software video devices designed to make workspace collaboration simple, intelligent, and seamless across Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom. Headquartered in Oslo, Norway - where our primary engineering hub of 80+ designers and engineers reside - we also maintain an established presence and team in Taipei to drive critical regional partnerships and operations.

The Opportunity

Every Neat device has to see a room the way a person does—framing participants naturally and holding up under challenging lighting. We are looking for a Senior Camera Module Engineer in Taipei to partner with our global engineering team in driving our camera subsystem strategy. Working side by side with cross-functional experts in Taipei and Oslo, you will collaboratively define specifications, select sensors and lenses, set performance targets, and guide partners through validation, yield improvements, and failure analysis.

You will join a tight-knit local team acting as the primary technical bridge to regional partners and suppliers in Taiwan and China. Travel varies by project phase, with heavier weeks on-site during NPI and production builds.

What You'll Do

  • Engineering & Architecture: Collaboratively define camera specifications and BOM (sensor, lens, IR filter, cover glass, FPC, connectors) together with the project team in Oslo. Co-own component selection, second-source strategy, and cost optimization decisions.

  • Validation & Quality: Define and execute comprehensive design verification plans alongside Oslo engineers, oversee reliability testing, analyze image quality issues, and lead structured root-cause failure analysis with suppliers.

  • Manufacturing & Ramp: Guide modules from early prototype to mass production in lockstep with the Oslo hardware team. Partner with suppliers on active alignment, calibration, yield improvement, and production testing.

  • Partner Management: Manage day-to-day technical relationships with development partners and suppliers in Taiwan and China, establishing incoming quality controls and risk mitigation mechanisms.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years developing camera modules from concept through mass production.

  • Deep technical knowledge of image sensors, optics, component selection, reliability testing, and design verification planning.

  • Proven track record of debugging complex image quality issues and performing root-cause failure analysis.

  • Fluency in English for global cross-functional collaboration.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Photonics, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Bonus Points

  • Mandarin fluency (strongly preferred for local supplier management).

  • Experience with MIPI interfaces, ISPs, and image tuning.

  • Knowledge of video conferencing hardware or high-volume consumer electronics.
