Description

The Director Business Development coordinates and implements plans that are designed to expand existing business and capture new opportunities, develops strategic marketing and operations planning with top executives, sets objectives and identifies methods to reach organizational growth initiatives related to regional markets and target customers. Government services experience required.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the CEO’s strategic planning initiatives and activities.
  • Market and promote the Company’s Tribal 8(a) status and capabilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Small Business Administration (SBA) regulations and policies including the 8(a) program required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of 8(a) and non-8(a) revenue and seek opportunities for both.
  • Must be familiar with Justification and Approval (J&A) process and elements required.
  • Monitor the Government’s annual small business goals and agency spend.
  • Monitor and regularly assess the state of the small business community utilization and recommend target agencies.
  • Identify new clients and opportunities. 
  • Must understand organizational and personal conflicts of interest.
  • Identify opportunities to expand business within our current client base.
  • Attend Industry Days and delegated client meetings. Schedule client introductions and meet & greets for CEO.
  • Provide client interaction debriefs to proposal manager and technical writers.
  • Maintain the business development pipeline.
  • Monitor identified opportunities and competitor developments.
  • Create and present business development briefings and participate in meetings with clients, external vendors, or advisors.
  • Manage the CRM database for business development efforts. Create customer profiles through data mining, research, and client engagement.  
  • Identify and implement best practices for using publicly available information. 
  • Assist with replies to client requests for Information, sources sought, marketing surveys, and requests for proposals. 
  • Work in conjunction with Marketing to develop, maintain, and translate capabilities for marketing materials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience consulting, sourcing contracts, performing stakeholder analysis with federal clients. Government services experience is required. 
  • Handles multiple concurrent tasks, performs well under stress, and must have excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Must fully understand Fixed and Cost type contracts, contract teaming arrangements, Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA), and assist with proposal preparation.  

Technical Skills:

Proficiency using all Microsoft Office 365 applications including: Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc. Proficiency using publicly available databases including: FPDS, SAM, USA Spending etc.

Work Environment:

Office environment will include sitting at a desk and operating office equipment including a laptop/computer, printer and scanner, answering and speaking by telephone. The employee will occasionally be asked to travel by car or plane to remote work locations as needed. The noise level will be quiet to moderate. Other employees will occasionally pass through the work area.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday typically between 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position will require long hours and weekend work. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required to client sites and the Corporate Office.
