The Physician Geneticist will provide virtual genomic medicine services to Department of Veterans Affairs beneficiaries. Assigned patient locations may include VA facilities across multiple states.

Type of Employment: Full-Time or Part-Time Contractor Position with W-2 employment through Fidelity Partners.

Work Arrangement: 100% Remote / Telemedicine.

Estimated Compensation: $104.37 per hour.

Period of Performance: September 28, 2026 through September 27, 2031, including option periods.

Work Schedule: Generally Monday through Friday during regular VA clinic hours, approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM in the local time zone of the supported VA facility.

On-Call Requirement: None.

Government-Furnished Equipment: VA will provide a laptop, docking station, two monitors, camera, and PIV reader, along with required access to VA electronic health record and telehealth systems.

Employee Requirement: Must maintain a private, VA-compliant remote workspace and reliable internet connection.
Summary of Duties
The Physician Geneticist will provide outpatient clinical genetics evaluations and consultations to Veterans through telemedicine. The physician will evaluate patients with a broad range of genetic conditions and indications, order and interpret genetic testing, communicate test results and treatment or management recommendations, coordinate care with VA providers, and maintain accurate documentation within VA electronic health record systems.
Qualifications

Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted physician license as required for the jurisdiction in which services are provided.

Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Clinical Genetics in accordance with applicable contract requirements.

Must meet applicable ABMGG certification requirements.

Must possess and maintain current BLS certification or equivalent.

Must possess or obtain an appropriate National Provider Identifier (NPI).

Must satisfy all applicable VA credentialing and privileging requirements.

Must maintain required continuing medical education and professional certifications.

Must meet applicable VA health-screening and training requirements.

Must demonstrate proficiency with electronic health records, telemedicine platforms, and computer-based clinical systems.

Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive outpatient genetic evaluations through secure telemedicine.

Review patient medical records, diagnostic history, laboratory findings, and relevant family history.

Evaluate adult patients with cancer-related, preconception, hereditary, and general genetic indications.

Determine appropriate genetic testing strategies.

Order and interpret genetic tests.

Review and communicate genetic testing results to patients.

Develop appropriate treatment, surveillance, follow-up, and management recommendations.

Coordinate patient care with VA physicians and other healthcare providers.

Document consultations, results, recommendations, and follow-up activities in VA electronic health records.

Monitor completion and status of ordered genetic testing.

Provide follow-up consultation when clinically appropriate.

Maintain required clinical privileges, certifications, and professional competencies.

Participate in required VA meetings, quality activities, and training.

Maintain strict confidentiality of Veteran health information.

Comply with applicable VA privacy, information-security, patient-safety, and clinical-quality requirements.
