Compliance HIM Specialist

Hourly Compensation Range: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Position Type: Full-time, Benefit eligible, PTO, Paid Holidays

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Compliance HIM Specialist to support the Compliance team with medical record retrieval, EMR access coordination, and administrative support for compliance medical audits. This remote role is ideal for a healthcare administrative professional who is organized, confidential, and comfortable working with electronic medical record systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Retrieve patient medical records to support Compliance Medical Auditors.
  • Coordinate hospital EMR access requests for Compliance Medical Auditor staff.
  • Request and maintain EMR access to assigned hospitals.
  • Use systems such as Microsoft Office and various EHR/EMR platforms, including Epic, PowerChart, Meditech, Commure Pro, HealthShare Universal, and related tools.
  • Request medical records via RingCentral as needed.
  • Keep the Compliance Manager and assigned auditors informed of issues related to medical record retrieval.
  • Generate daily Hold Reports in Commure Pro and export requests into HealthShare Universal.
  • Assist with medical records administrative duties, audit preparation, system testing, meeting minutes, and audit schedule support.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of six months of medical office or healthcare setting experience required.
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment and hospital EMR record retrieval processes.
  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal, and telephone etiquette skills.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and maintain accurate records and files.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
  • Preference for Medical Terminology Certification, MRT certification, CBCS Certification, and/or knowledge of Commure Pro.
