Job description

Migration/ Translations experts. Looking for people who have experience in migrations and North American Translations, have experience extracting the core line and trunk Data fill from a donner Switch and can parse and build scripts and test the core Data-fill / translation for a new host switch as part of live migration.
Critical qualification: Direct, hands-on GTD-5 database table, polling, translations, or provisioning experience is required. General switch installation or hardware maintenance experience alone is not sufficient.
GTD-5 EAX Telecom Engineer for a remote contract supporting a major U.S. incumbent telecommunications carrier with an extensive legacy GTD-5 network. This specialized role focuses on database analysis and provisioning. The successful candidate must be able to independently navigate GTD-5 database structures, select the correct tables and commands, interpret raw switch output, and convert the information into accurate, organized reports. The anticipated project includes several hundred switching sites and has the potential to continue for multiple years. Project duration, workload, and continuation will depend on customer authorization, site volume, performance, and ongoing requirements; no minimum contract duration is guaranteed.
Job Duties & Responsibilities-
Remotely access GTD-5 switches, poll the appropriate database tables, analyze the returned information, and prepare clear site-level reports for engineering and network-planning analysis.
  • Access and poll GTD-5 EAX switching systems remotely
  • Determine which GTD-5 tables, commands, and records contain the required information
  • Identify TDM switch remotes and document host/remote relationships
  • Identify associated Integrated Digital Loop Carrier (IDLC) systems and quantities
  • Assess and document E911 tandem configurations
  • Identify and count subscriber line types, including POTS, business lines, Centrex, ISDN BRI, Foreign Exchange services, and other supported services
  • Identify ISDN PRI and BRI customers and quantities
  • Inventory and categorize interoffice, toll, E911, and PRI trunk groups
  • Parse and validate raw switch output
  • Organize collected information into accurate spreadsheets and structured technical reports
  • Investigate missing, inconsistent, or questionable data
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of customer network information
  • Support occasional evening or overnight work when required for migrations or related project activities
Required Experience-
  • Direct, hands-on experience with GTD-5 or GTD5 EAX switching systems
  • Strong knowledge of GTD-5 database structures, tables, input/output commands, translations, and provisioning
  • Demonstrated ability to determine which tables and commands must be used to retrieve specific switch information
  • Experience interpreting GTD-5 switch output and converting it into usable engineering data
  • Knowledge of TDM switching, host/remote relationships, IDLC systems, subscriber services, and trunk groups
  • Understanding of E911 tandem routing and configuration
  • Knowledge of ISDN PRI and BRI services
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and structured technical reporting
  • Ability to work independently and maintain accuracy across many switching sites
Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting a major U.S. incumbent local exchange carrier
  • Experience in an AG Communication Systems, Lucent, GTE-heritage, or similar GTD-5 environment
  • Previous work involving large-scale switch inventory, migration, modernization, or decommissioning programs
