Platform Engineer – Intelligent Transportation Systems

About the Company

Our client is an established technology organisation specialising in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), developing software, infrastructure and technology solutions designed to improve mobility, reduce congestion and create safer, more connected transport networks.

Their technology supports modern traffic management and smart mobility environments, with solutions spanning traffic management systems, sensing technologies, cloud-based platforms and connected transportation infrastructure.

As part of continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Platform Engineer to join their engineering team.

The Role

The Platform Engineer will contribute to the overall effectiveness, reliability and security of the organisation's cloud infrastructure and software delivery platforms.

Working closely with engineering and technical support teams, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining Kubernetes-based environments, CI/CD pipelines, database platform services and cloud infrastructure.

The role will play an important part in enabling the reliable deployment, operation and continuous improvement of large-scale transportation technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain Kubernetes clusters.
  

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for containerised .NET (C#) and Angular applications.
  

• Provide platform capabilities for SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases, including:
  

  • Provisioning automation
    

  • Backup and restore services
    

  • High-availability configurations
    

  • Secrets management
    

• Manage cloud infrastructure and software deployment, configuration and ongoing maintenance.
  

• Implement and support real-time security monitoring across cloud environments.
  

• Monitor and maintain multiple development and production environments.
  

• Work closely with technical and support teams to deliver highly available and reliable services.
  

• Contribute to wider engineering and software development projects where required.
  

• Support the continuous improvement of platform reliability, scalability, security and deployment processes.
  

Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate should have:

• Strong experience with Kubernetes and Docker/containerised environments.
  

• Strong understanding of networking concepts and infrastructure.
  

• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipeline development, or comparable AWS experience.
  

• Experience implementing and managing security policies and practices, ideally within environments aligned to standards such as SOC 2.
  

• Experience supporting enterprise-grade production software products.
  

• Strong understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
  

• Programming experience with a high-level language such as C#.
  

• Experience working with cloud infrastructure and production environments.
  

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  

• Approximately 2–6 years of relevant professional experience.
  

Desirable

Previous experience within Intelligent Transportation Systems, traffic management, smart mobility or a related transportation technology environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
