Job Role: YouTube Channel Manager
Compensation range: $1,500 AUD - $2,000 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: Our client is an Australian digital media company that helps film studios, content owners, and entertainment brands grow global audiences across major social and video platforms. They specialize in distributing and optimizing movies, TV shows, and original content, using data-driven strategies to maximize audience engagement and long-term content performance. Their team works with premium entertainment content viewed by millions of people worldwide.
Role Overview: As a Junior YouTube Channel Manager, you will be responsible for managing the company’s movie content and channels. You will focus on optimising channel performance, driving audience engagement, and ensuring content strategies align with both client and company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Channel Growth & Optimisation – Use data-driven insights to optimise video titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, playlists, and overall channel strategy to maximise organic growth, reach, and discoverability. Regularly monitor YouTube Analytics to identify opportunities and make informed recommendations.
- YouTube SEO & Trends – Stay across YouTube algorithm updates, emerging trends, platform developments, and industry best practices. Apply effective SEO and AI-driven optimisation techniques to improve content visibility across YouTube Search, Browse, and Recommended surfaces.
- Audience Engagement – Support the growth of engaged communities by responding to comments, interacting with viewers, and developing strategies that encourage likes, shares, subscriptions, and repeat viewership. Work with clients to build meaningful, long-term audience relationships.
- YouTube Rights Management – Maintain a strong working knowledge of YouTube rights management, copyright, Content ID, and platform policies. Ensure client content is appropriately licensed, compliant, and managed in line with agreed rights.
- Analytics & Reporting – Analyse channel and content performance, identify key trends and insights, and prepare clear performance reports and recommendations for internal teams and clients. Use tools such as PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Canva to communicate results effectively.
- Cross-functional Collaboration – Work closely with the internal channel management team, Social Media, and other relevant teams to align YouTube strategies with broader campaigns, content plans, and client objectives, ensuring a consistent approach across platforms.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field required
- Completed one or more YouTube Certification courses [YouTube Asset Monetization + YouTube Content Ownership]
- Proven experience (1+ years) managing and growing YouTube channels
- Strong understanding of the current YouTube algorithm, trends, and best practices.
- Experience utilizing AI tools for data analysis, content optimization, audience engagement strategies, and workflow automation.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data to inform decision-making.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple client projects simultaneously.
- Experience in optimizing content for SEO and driving audience engagement.
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for visual aesthetics and storytelling.
- Experience crafting engaging titles and thumbnails to maximize CTR.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients, teams, and stakeholders
- Proficient in Canva, Slack, Google Suite, and CRM tools.
- Experience working with Australian, UK, or US-based companies.
- Passion for movies, television, digital media, or online entertainment.

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
