Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics North America

Beauty, Skincare & Fragrance Brands

Every brand builds itself on a philosophy. It’s what defines them, shapes them, makes or breaks them. It’s what prompts people to gravitate towards or turn away from them. Our approach to skincare keeps in mind that everyone is unique, and that applies to their skin, too. We believe in allowing skin to function naturally, with as little interference as possible. We love products that benefit the skin in a gentle way. We appreciate that you’re the person who’s most familiar with how your skin behaves and reacts to the changing seasons and products you use, and we’ll always be there to help you find the perfect products and skincare routines. We believe that fresh is best. While fruit is growing on a tree, it receives a constant flow of energy. As soon as it’s picked, it starts to decompose. The sooner we use it, the higher its nutrients and the greater the benefit to your skin. With that in mind, we regularly stock our fridge with the finest, freshest ingredients ready to be mixed together and turned into your favorite products. A great example is our Fresh Face Masks, which are made and sent out to stores every week so that your skin can soak up the benefits of all the nutrients and enzymes packed into each mask. It’s the freshest way to keep skin happy! We incorporate our strongest beliefs into the sourcing, production and selling of each product. We never test on animals, nor do we work with anyone who does. Plus, we’re passionate and resolute when it comes to our sourcing process. We put so much love and care into our products, and it’s vital for us to work with suppliers who do the same. Our dedicated ethical buying team is tasked with researching and meeting with suppliers whose values align with ours. If they tick all the boxes, they go into our skincare products. Job description

Lush is more than just a fresh, handmade cosmetics company.  It is a company that wants to make skin, hair and bathing products in a way that benefits the world, not depletes it. We have strong opinions on nature, the environment, human rights & animal rights - and we try to build these into all our business practices.

Our search for best practice means we are constantly made aware of where the problems lay, and also brings us into close contact with others, such as charities, NGOs, activists and community groups who are working to make the world a better, safer, kinder place.

Over the years, Lush has made it a mission to help these groups, who share the same concerns as us, by helping fund their work and also, importantly, giving them a platform in our shop windows and websites to reach through to the public.

We have become known as a campaigning company, for both our internal business practices and our willingness to highlight world issues in our windows. Staff and customers appreciate the integrity of Lush’s values, hold us to account and are an active part of upholding our standards. For them our campaigns are a source of inspiration and pride.

A rare opportunity has come up to join our small, worldwide Campaigns Team so we are now looking for the perfect person to join our team to further the Lush values, help shape our public facing campaigns and engage with external groups who are working to improve the world. This role would suit someone who is driven by a desire to shift public awareness, has experience of active campaigning and who has the ability to meaningfully engage with everyone from external grassroots activists to internal staff and company leadership.

We are looking for someone who is active in Human Rights, Animal Rights or Environmental issues and understands the landscape of campaigning and activism in the UK and is connected to it. We are excited to have someone new on our team who can represent young activists, those driving change through diversity and inclusion and bring awareness of voices that are less heard.

Success in this role is measured by an ability to shift public awareness, drive tangible legislative change or social action on the ground, and keep our shop floors actively engaged in our campaigns.

Working with the Canadian - Ethical Campaign & Giving Coordinator and the US Giving Coordinator Roles - to share ideas and support each other in various projects. You will undertake the following RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Through your knowledge and participation in the US campaigning landscape, you would highlight and suggest partnerships with progressive grassroots organisations, NGOs, and movements, including those that Lush may not have previously collaborated with.
  • Propose creative angles for US campaigns, keeping a close pulse on underrepresented or misrepresented groups and issues.
  • Maintain authentic and respectful relationships with external partner organisations, activists, and charities.
  • Keep contact with our internal charitable giving team to see if there are opportunities to align our active campaign priorities and grassroots partners with their funding focus.
  • Communicate complex ethical or legislative topics into clear, inspiring educational materials, training guides, and window concepts in ways that help our retail staff bring these ideas to life on the shop floor.
  • Write compelling campaign copy for internal and external communication, web articles, press mailers, and our active digital platforms (including LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky, etc.).
  • Help develop creative concepts for store windows, in store activations, and public stunts, and a willingness to take part in person where required.
  • Collaborate with the PR team to draft press releases and secure meaningful earned media coverage, with an emphasis on the ethical issue and partner organisation, not on the Brand.
  • Work to maximise impact whilst resourcefully staying within our tight campaigns budget.
  • Provide post campaign feedback to staff, where possible to include impact reporting, outcomes, petition numbers collected and any other interesting information or developments and feedback from the partner organisations.
  • Attend key business meetings to provide a sound moral compass, intersectional insight, and strategic guidance on core ethical positions, such as fighting animal testing, environmental initiatives and human rights impacts.
  • Actively collaborate across the internal business, participate in relevant meetings and circle discussions to help identify and refine proposals and promote open communication and healthy debate on key campaign directions to help early development of campaign ideas.

Knowledge and capabilities or skills:

  • A proven portfolio of existing experience, relationships, personal credibility, and active connections within the US charity, NGO, or grassroots activist sectors.
  • 3+ years of experience of managing and rolling out successful ethical or grassroots campaigns, ideally within an NGO, community, organising, charity, or progressive brand environment.
  • A deep, intersectional understanding of current affairs across environmental defence, animal rights, and social justice, combined with the cultural sensitivity required to communicate complex social topics responsibly.
  • Highly organised, methodical, and capable of coordinating multi stakeholder projects (from complex copy sign offs to fast-moving public stunts) under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience delivering presentations, training and filmed interviews to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders.
  • A track record of planning and executing public facing campaigns
  • Outstanding project management attributes
  • But far more than anything, our main requirement is for someone who would bring passion and integrity to the role, who could be respected and trusted by external organizations and be motivating and inspirational to our own internal staff

Thriving with a diverse company culture, celebrating the uniqueness of our staff and committed to inclusion. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

We thank all interested applicants; however, only qualified candidates will be contacted.
