Electric Vehicles (EVs)

At Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA. We believe that car buyers—not car companies—should call the shots. We like looking at a road, not a screen. We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.We like picking out the stuff we do need. We think dings are badges, not blemishes. But we know not everyone likes what we like. So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.

Job description

ABOUT SLATE

At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.

| WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Slate is looking for a Principal Product Manager, Fleet & B2B to lead the product vision and strategy for how business customers engage with Slate.

This role will own a broad and evolving product space spanning the Fleet and B2B customer experience. You will work backwards from the needs of businesses of different sizes and levels of complexity to define experiences that are simple, scalable, and distinctly Slate.

As a Principal Product Manager, you will operate well beyond an individual feature or roadmap. You will set long-term product direction, connect customer and business needs across multiple product areas, and drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, Commercial, Operations, Finance, and other teams throughout Slate.

This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can move comfortably between strategy and execution, and wants to help build a major product area from the ground up.

| WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Own and evolve the multi-year product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Slate's Fleet and B2B customer experience.

  • Work backwards from business customer needs to identify opportunities, define product requirements, and create simple and scalable experiences.

  • Lead the development of new B2B capabilities from early customer discovery through launch, adoption, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop a deep understanding of different business customer segments and translate those insights into clear product priorities.

  • Partner closely with Engineering and Design to make product and technical trade-offs and deliver high-quality customer experiences.

  • Collaborate across Commercial, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Service, and other teams to ensure cohesive end-to-end solutions.

  • Engage directly with customers, partners, and industry experts to understand evolving needs and identify opportunities for Slate to differentiate.

  • Define clear measures of success and use customer feedback, data, and business outcomes to continuously refine product strategy.

  • Navigate complex and sometimes competing priorities, creating clarity and alignment across teams and senior stakeholders.

  • Represent Fleet and B2B product strategy with senior and executive leadership.

  • Raise the product management bar across the organization through strong product judgment, systems thinking, and mentorship of other product leaders.

  • Embrace AI and emerging technologies both as product opportunities and as tools for accelerating how products are conceived, built, and improved.

| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in product management or a related technical product role, with experience operating at a Staff, Principal, or equivalent level.

  • Demonstrated success defining product vision and strategy across complex products, platforms, or multiple interconnected product areas.

  • Experience building and launching B2B, enterprise, fleet, marketplace, or similarly complex customer-facing products.

  • Track record of taking new products or major capabilities from concept through launch and ongoing evolution.

  • Strong customer orientation and experience translating qualitative and quantitative insights into product strategy.

  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to establish credibility with engineering teams while navigating complex product and technology trade-offs.

  • Experience working effectively across multiple functions and influencing teams outside of your direct organizational ownership.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence senior and executive stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create clarity in highly ambiguous environments.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in automotive, mobility, transportation, logistics, connected products, or another industry where digital and physical experiences intersect.

  • Experience building products for businesses ranging from small organizations to large enterprise customers.

  • Experience working with external partners, platforms, or complex integrations.

  • Experience developing and delivering B2B go-to-market strategies in partnership with commercial teams.

  • Experience building or launching AI-powered products.

  • Experience in a fast-moving startup or zero-to-one product environment.

SALARY RANGE

The compensation for this position is the range Slate reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; work location; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
