Fire-Dex is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring payroll-related transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported while partnering closely with Human Resources, Operations, and external vendors.

What You'll Do
- Prepare, review, and post payroll-related journal entries.
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, including wages, taxes, benefits, deductions, and accruals.
- Review payroll data and reports to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Validate payroll files, deductions, tax information, and related reporting.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to payroll accounting.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Partner with Human Resources, Operations, and third-party providers to address payroll questions and ensure data accuracy.
- Assist with payroll tax, benefit, retirement plan, garnishment, and deduction reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing payroll-related documentation and reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiencies.
- Handle sensitive employee and payroll information with the highest level of confidentiality.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in payroll accounting, accounting, payroll administration, or a related finance role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll accounting, payroll taxes, deductions, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and ERP/accounting software preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage confidential information professionally and discreetly.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with regular computer use.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Occasional movement throughout the facility as needed.
- May occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
