Job description

About the Role

ELB Learning is looking for a hands-on Instructional Designer/Developer to support a major enterprise transformation initiative for a large client in the events and experiential services industry.

This is a 20-hour/week contract opportunity, with an anticipated start in September 2026, supporting teams through new systems, updated processes, and broader business transformation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded ID/Developer who can work comfortably across technical and non-technical audiences, translate complex processes into clear learning experiences, and help employees adapt to new ways of working.

A major part of the work will involve developing eLearning, simulations, software demonstrations, job aids, handouts, and other performance-support materials that employees can use as new systems and processes go live.

The client operates primarily on Central Time.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and develop engaging learning solutions for software implementations, system changes, and business process transitions.

  • Create eLearning, job aids, handouts, process guides, simulations, demonstrations, and other performance-support materials.

  • Develop learning that helps employees understand not only what is changing, but how to perform their work successfully in the new environment.

  • Translate complex technical processes into clear, practical and learner-friendly content.

  • Support software/system training initiatives, including SAP and NetSuite-related transformation work.

  • Develop materials that allow learners and facilitators to practice and run simulations independently.

  • Create learning for both asynchronous and synchronous environments.

  • Partner with SMEs, project teams, communications, technical teams and business stakeholders throughout the development process.

  • Work closely with communications partners to incorporate appropriate change messaging and business context into learning materials.

  • Help teams transition from established processes to new ways of working while keeping the messaging positive and focused on the benefits of the change.

  • Facilitate discovery conversations and gather information from SMEs and stakeholders.

  • Manage multiple learning deliverables and shifting priorities while maintaining quality and deadlines.

  • Review existing learning materials and determine what can be reused, updated or rebuilt.

  • Support learning initiatives surrounding enterprise system and process transformations.

  • Develop practical performance support that employees can reference at the moment of need.

  • Ensure learning materials are clear, accessible, visually engaging and aligned with the client's business goals.

Key Projects

The role may support several enterprise initiatives, including:

SAP Conversion

  • Supporting the transition of the Sparks brand from NetSuite to SAP.

  • Helping employees understand differences between existing Sparks processes and Freeman's processes.

  • Developing learning and performance support as the project moves toward implementation.

ServiceNow

  • Supporting a longer-term ServiceNow initiative involving Deloitte.

  • Potentially updating existing learning materials and adapting content to new branding and processes.

Freeman Next

  • Supporting a large enterprise transition from an existing environment to a new operating model.

  • The initiative impacts event management and operations teams.

  • A major focus will be helping employees who have been accustomed to existing processes successfully adopt new ones.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of hands-on Instructional Design/Development experience.

  • Experience designing learning for software implementations, systems training, process changes, or technical environments.

  • Strong experience creating eLearning and performance-support materials.

  • Experience developing job aids, process guides, handouts, simulations and software demonstrations.

  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Comfortable collaborating with SMEs, project managers, communications teams, technical teams and business stakeholders.

  • Strong ability to take complex information and make it simple, clear and practical.

  • Experience working with organizations or teams that may be resistant to change or hesitant to adopt new processes.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to frame change positively and create learning that helps people understand the "why" behind the change.

  • Able to work independently while also collaborating closely with a larger project team.

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working in a changing project environment.

Preferred Technical Skills

Experience with some or all of the following is highly desirable:

  • Articulate Rise 360

  • SAP

  • NetSuite

  • Powtoon

  • Synthesia

  • Other eLearning authoring and multimedia development tools

  • Software simulation/demo tools

Experience with SAP and/or NetSuite is strongly preferred, particularly experience supporting system implementations or conversions.

Success in This Role

The successful candidate will be someone who can step into a complex business environment, quickly understand how people currently work, identify what needs to change, and turn that information into clear, practical and engaging learning.

You should be comfortable asking questions, working with SMEs, challenging unclear information when needed, and helping teams move through change without making the learning feel overwhelming or negative.
