We're looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join a U.S.-based client in the pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience supporting Oracle databases in production environments, excellent SQL skills, and a solid understanding of database performance, migration, and ETL processes.

This role is a great opportunity for a technically strong DBA who enjoys working with mission-critical systems and collaborating with international teams.

Requirements:

  • Advanced English level at B2 (Upper-Intermediate) or C1 (Advanced), with the ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Native Spanish or Portuguese language.
  • 3+ years of professional experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, with significant experience in production support.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language), including querying, creating, modifying, and managing database structures.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Database 12c–19c.
  • Experience with Oracle database upgrades, particularly from 12c to 19c, is highly preferred.
  • Strong experience in database performance tuning, including SQL queries, indexes, and server/database configuration.
  • Experience with data migration and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/Postgres SQL.
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience with MongoDB.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a distributed, international environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with databases in regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, biotechnology, or financial services.
  • Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical production environments.
  • Familiarity with database backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Experience working with cloud-based database environments.
  • Knowledge of database monitoring and automation tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day production support and administration of Oracle databases.
  • Monitor database health, availability, performance, and capacity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and production issues.
  • Perform database performance tuning, including optimization of SQL queries, indexes, and server configuration.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, database objects, and structures.
  • Participate in Oracle database upgrades, migrations, and related technical projects.
  • Support data migration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB environments as needed.
  • Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and other technical stakeholders to identify and resolve database issues.
  • Follow established procedures and best practices for database security, reliability, backup, recovery, and change management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of database environments and operational processes.
