Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced process improvement and operations professionals with strong expertise in SOP development, workflow optimisation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.

This role focuses on reviewing professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials related to process improvement and standard operating procedures. Selected experts will assess outputs for operational accuracy, process logic, implementation feasibility, analytical rigour, presentation quality, and overall professional credibility.

Key Responsibilities

Process Improvement

  • Evaluate process-improvement plans, workflows, and operational recommendations
  • Assess whether proposed changes address underlying process inefficiencies
  • Identify bottlenecks, redundant steps, unclear ownership, and execution risks
  • Review opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and operational performance
  • Apply professional judgement grounded in real-world process improvement experience

Standard Operating Procedures

  • Review SOPs for clarity, completeness, consistency, and practical usability
  • Assess whether procedures accurately describe roles, responsibilities, steps, and controls
  • Identify missing steps, ambiguous instructions, and process gaps
  • Evaluate whether SOPs can be followed reliably by intended users
  • Review alignment between documented procedures and stated operational objectives

Workflow & Business Process Analysis

  • Evaluate end-to-end business processes and operational workflows
  • Assess handoffs, dependencies, approvals, escalation paths, and decision points
  • Identify unnecessary complexity or poorly defined process ownership
  • Review process maps and supporting documentation for accuracy
  • Evaluate whether proposed workflows are scalable and operationally realistic

Continuous Improvement

  • Review initiatives involving operational efficiency, quality, standardisation, and performance improvement
  • Assess whether proposed actions address root causes rather than surface symptoms
  • Evaluate improvement priorities and implementation approaches
  • Identify gaps in measurement, ownership, or follow-through
  • Review recommendations for sustainable process improvement

Operational Controls & Quality

  • Evaluate process controls, quality checks, and operational safeguards
  • Assess whether control points appropriately address process risks and failure modes
  • Review approaches to consistency, documentation, and quality assurance
  • Identify weaknesses in monitoring, escalation, or accountability
  • Evaluate whether proposed controls are proportionate and practical

Process Metrics & Analysis

  • Review spreadsheets and analyses supporting process-improvement decisions
  • Assess calculations, assumptions, metrics, and performance indicators
  • Evaluate whether selected KPIs meaningfully reflect process performance
  • Identify inconsistencies between underlying data and stated conclusions
  • Review whether quantitative analysis supports proposed operational changes

Documents & Presentation Review

  • Evaluate SOPs, process documents, spreadsheets, reports, and slide decks for accuracy and completeness
  • Review presentations for logical flow, clarity, and decision usefulness
  • Identify factual, analytical, aesthetic, and formatting issues
  • Assess whether diagrams, tables, charts, and visuals accurately represent underlying processes
  • Ensure recommendations are clearly connected to supporting analysis

Structured Evaluation & Feedback

  • Assess assigned outputs against domain-specific quality criteria
  • Identify process, operational, analytical, factual, and presentation weaknesses
  • Distinguish substantive workflow issues from minor editorial concerns
  • Provide clear, structured written feedback explaining identified strengths and weaknesses
  • Apply evaluation standards consistently across different process-improvement work products

Ideal Profile

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in process improvement, business process management, operations, continuous improvement, quality assurance, or a closely related field
  • Experience as a Process Improvement Specialist, Business Process Analyst, Operations Analyst, Continuous Improvement Manager, Quality Assurance Analyst, or similar professional
  • Strong practical experience developing, reviewing, or improving standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Strong understanding of workflow design, process mapping, operational controls, and continuous improvement
  • Experience developing or reviewing process documentation, operational analyses, performance metrics, or improvement plans
  • Ability to evaluate process recommendations for clarity, efficiency, and practical feasibility
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint / Google Slides
  • Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills
  • Native or professional fluency in English
  • Excellent written communication and ability to provide precise, structured feedback
  • Strong attention to operational, analytical, documentation, and presentation detail
  • Master's degree or higher from a recognised institution is advantageous

Engagement Details

  • Fully remote
  • Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
  • Compensation: $70–$110/hour
  • Work includes evaluation of SOPs, process-improvement plans, workflow analyses, spreadsheets, documents, and presentation materials
