Schedule: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm PST.
Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 months (Possibility of extension or conversion).
Pay Range: $20 - $23/hr
*Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.
Duties:
- Proficient in managing and responding to patient billing inquiries through Epic MyChart in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain billing statements, account balances, payment options, insurance processing, and financial policies through electronic patient communications.
- Knowledge of Epic EHR/MyChart functionality, including message management, documentation, routing, and follow-up workflows.
- Ability to investigate and resolve patient billing concerns by reviewing accounts, identifying discrepancies, and coordinating with internal departments as needed.
- Skilled in assessing the complexity and urgency of patient inquiries and escalating issues appropriately to supervisors, coding teams, providers, or other departments.
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills with the ability to address patient concerns empathetically, professionally, and confidentially.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and the ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in all electronic communications.
- Ability to accurately document patient interactions, billing resolutions, and follow-up actions within the electronic health record and billing systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of MyChart messages while meeting established service-level expectations.
- Working knowledge of insurance benefits, claims processing, patient financial responsibility, payment plans, and revenue cycle operations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with patients, providers, clinic staff, revenue cycle teams, and insurance representatives to ensure timely resolution of billing issues.
- Proficiency in identifying inquiries that require clinical review and appropriately routing messages according to established workflows and organizational policies.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience using Epic EHR and MyChart patient portal.
- Minimum of one year of healthcare billing, revenue cycle, patient financial services, or customer service experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance regulations, and healthcare reimbursement processes.
- Experience handling patient inquiries through electronic communication platforms.
