About the role

Team Global Express is seeking an experienced Dispatch Officer to join our Courier Operations team based in Port Melbourne, VIC.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity where you will play a key role in coordinating our fleet, allocating pickups and deliveries and supporting drivers to ensure we provide an efficient and reliable service to our customers.

You will work in a fast-paced transport environment where strong communication, organisation and the ability to make quick decisions are essential.

What you’ll do

  • Coordinate and allocate daily pickup and delivery runs across the fleet

  • Allocate jobs to drivers using our computerised dispatch system

  • Plan and route deliveries to ensure efficient and timely service

  • Monitor drivers and ensure permanent runs and backup coverage are in place

  • Communicate with drivers regarding run requirements, changes and priorities

  • Keep customers and internal teams updated on delays or operational issues

  • Accept and book jobs, ensuring all information is entered accurately

  • Maintain driver hours, waiting times and job adjustments

  • Assist with vehicle requirements and fleet capacity planning

  • Prepare safe driving plans for regional deliveries when required

  • Complete transport compliance and safety-related tasks

  • Build strong working relationships with drivers, contractors, customers and internal teams

What you’ll bring

  • Previous experience in dispatch, fleet allocation, transport coordination or a similar transport operations role

  • Experience allocating vehicles and coordinating drivers

  • Good understanding of transport operations and Chain of Responsibility requirements

  • Knowledge of different vehicle types and their capabilities is highly regarded

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office

  • Good geographical knowledge of Melbourne and surrounding areas

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to prioritise and make decisions in a busy, time-critical environment

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

  • A proactive, hands-on approach and ability to work autonomously

  • Previous transport operations experience is preferred, with a relevant logistics qualification also highly regarded.
