Role Overview:

Jewish News Syndicate (JNS), the fastest-growing news agency covering Israel and the Jewish world, is seeking an experienced, well-sourced Military Correspondent to cover Israel’s defense establishment, military operations, security policies, and conflict zones. Working in the Editorial Team, this is a fully remote role open to anyone in Israel.


This role requires deep knowledge of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), regional military dynamics, and the broader geopolitical context shaping national security. The correspondent will provide fast, accurate, and in-depth coverage of military activity, including Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran-related developments.


What You’ll Do: 

  • Report on IDF operations, strategy, and policy, including ground, air, cyber, and intelligence activity (1-2 weekly articles)
  • Cover breaking news involving military escalations, cross-border attacks, ceasefires, and counterterrorism actions.
  • Develop sources within the IDF, Ministry of Defense, security services, and intelligence community.
  • Monitor official statements, military briefings, and international defense reports.
  • Produce sharp daily news stories, long-form features, and analysis that contextualizes Israel’s military posture.
  • Work closely with diplomatic and political correspondents to connect military developments with policy and foreign relations.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, security sensitivity, and journalistic ethics.


What You Bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in defense or conflict reporting, preferably in Israel.
  • Strong familiarity with Israeli military structure, security doctrines, and regional threats.
  • Excellent reporting, writing, and analytical skills under deadline pressure.
  • Fluency in English; high proficiency of Hebrew required.
  • Ability to cultivate trusted sources across defense and security sectors.
  • Comfort working in high-risk or rapidly evolving environments.
  • Available for travel, including to front lines or operational zones when safe and appropriate.
