Position: Editor  

Location:  US (remote)


Role Overview:

Jerusalem News Syndicate (JNS), the fastest-growing news agency covering Israel and the Jewish world, is seeking a full-time Editor to join our editorial team. This is a fully remote role open to anyone in the United States.


The ideal candidate will have experience in copy editing for English news publication, a strong understanding of the US/Israel political landscape, and a commitment to our mission. This role requires sharp attention to detail, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced news environment. Responsibilities include proofreading, copyediting, and publishing content via WordPress, covering opinion pieces, news articles, and press releases. The Editor will also participate in editorial meetings and collaborate with supervisors to ensure the highest editorial standards. 


What You’ll Do:

  • Proofread and copy edit a continuous stream of U.S. news articles, briefs, and feature stories, ensuring they meet JNS's editorial standards for accuracy, clarity, consistency and timeliness.
  • Flag and correct factual errors and inconsistencies, including verifying names, dates, statistics, quotes, and links, including following up with writers when information is unclear or unverifiable
  • Edit headlines, subheads, and photo captions to improve clarity and accuracy
  • Ensure that all texts conform to JNS editorial standards and abide by the highest quality
  • Publish finished articles to the CMS
  • Update the website as needed (i.e. uploading breaking news items)


What You Bring:

  • 2+ years of copyediting experience at news/media publications, with expertise in US/Israel political issues, Jewish topics, and online publishing
  • Native English speaker
  • Deep familiarity with the Jewish world
  • Proficiency in WordPress and related content-management tools
  • Strong editorial background with excellent proofreading, communication, and adherence to style guides.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong fact-checking experience
  • Must reside and be eligible to legally work in the US
  • *Knowledge of Hebrew preferred
