Brown & Brown is seeking a Senior Recreational Marine Facilities Underwriter to join our growing team! 

 

As a Senior Underwriting Specialist, you will manage new business and large renewals, drive profitability, and foster strong relationships within your assigned territory. You will provide leadership and mentorship to the underwriting team, coordinate loss control efforts, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role also involves product expertise, training, and continuous improvement to meet departmental goals. This niche Senior Underwriter role will specifically target Recreational Marinas, Boat Dealers, Boat Builders, Yacht Clubs and Rental Boat Operations. 

 

How You Will Contribute: 

  • New Business & Renewals: Underwrite new business and large renewal commercial accounts, ensuring alignment with rate, retention, and profit goals. 

  • Team Leadership: Provide direction and mentorship to teammates (Analysts, Raters, Underwriting Assistants, Junior Underwriters, BOP), delegating tasks and fostering team development. 

  • Territory Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong agency relationships within your assigned territory, conducting quarterly visits to drive growth and collaboration. 

  • Industry Engagement: attend and occasionally act as speaker at relevant industry related events and educational seminars to gain market intelligence and knowledge. 

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure policies meet operational and compliance standards by verifying issued policies against quotes, state and carrier regulations, and maintaining a 99% accuracy rate. 

  • Service Standard Adherence: Respond to agent emails and phone calls within one business day to maintain excellent service levels and efficient communication. 

  • Broker Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for brokers, providing timely and accurate responses related to policies, coverage, billing, and other inquiries. 

 

Licenses & Certifications:  

  • AIMU, CIC, or CPCU designations preferable. 

 

Skills & Experience to be Successful: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent for four-year college or technical school; or at least ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   

  • Ability and desire to continue professional development through industry and/or outside courses to obtain a professional designation. 

Pay Range

$90,000 - $150,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
