Engineer - Data Engineering – PowerBI/SSRS

The Opportunity:

We are currently on the lookout for an Engineer - Data Engineering – PowerBI/SSRS to join our team.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop Power BI visualizations
    • Develop Power BI dashboards and visualizations to meet business reporting requirements.
    • Analyze business requirements, create reporting wireframes, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver effective dashboard solutions.
    • Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency before deployment.
    • Help manage, enhance, and maintain the existing reporting library, ensuring adherence to reporting standards and best practices.
    • Continuously learn and adopt new Power BI features and BI best practices to improve reporting capabilities.
  • Develop and support data preparation and reporting solutions to enable accurate and timely business insights.
  • Clean, transform, and validate data from multiple sources to ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Good knowledge of SQL and/or Python for data extraction, transformation, data validation, and automation of reporting processes.
  • Automate data preparation processes to improve reporting efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and SMEs and reporting teams to deliver analytics-ready datasets.
  • Support team that provides full-stack analytic solutions
    • Provide guidance and get involved in data governance and data source development
    • Other duties and coverage as required by the team
  • Provide support for the BI environment and business reporting solutions.
    • Administer user security, permissions, and access requests for Power BI Service.
    • Maintaining the existing SSRS reports and providing technical support
    • Monitor and maintain dashboard refreshes, data extracts, report performance, scheduled jobs, and platform usage to ensure optimal performance and availability.
    • Conduct training sessions for business users and developers on Power BI features and best practices.
    • Deliver dashboard demonstrations and walkthroughs to end users, gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
    • Investigate data and reporting issues, resolve user queries, and ensure data accuracy and report reliability.
    • Collaborate with Power BI administrators to support report publishing, deployments, scheduling, workspace management, and platform maintenance.

Requirements: 

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, and 1-3 years of experience
  • Expert proficiency using Power BI
  • Prior experience working with D365 ERP data is preferable.
  • Prior experience with SSRS report development is highly desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of Python for data extraction, transformation, validation, and automation.
  • Expert proficiency writing SQL SELECT statements
  • Very strong technical, analytical, and data visualization skills and an understanding of visualization best practices
  • Is an independent thinker and can suggest new ways of looking at old problems
  • Can effectively communicate, both written and verbal, to any level of the company and can serve as an “analytic translator”
  • Can facilitate training and coaching of others to improve their ability to use data and analytical tools
  • Has a proven productivity track record while working remotely, with minimal supervision
  • Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools, advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and manage time effectively
  • Detail oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks/assignments
