About the Role

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Product Designer who can help modernize their existing product lines and develop innovative new products from concept through manufacturing. This role combines industrial design, CAD modeling, mechanical product design, and manufacturing collaboration.

This role will be responsible for developing functional consumer products from initial concept through production. You will create detailed CAD models, engineering documentation, mechanical features, and visual product simulations while ensuring that each design is practical, manufacturable, and ready for commercial production.

You will report directly to the hiring manager, who will facilitate communication and collaboration with Product Management, Procurement, Quality, Packaging, and international manufacturing partners.

This is a 100% remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Features: Design functional components such as hinges, latches, snap fits, locks, sliding mechanisms, stackable features, and modular assemblies.

  • Design for Manufacturing: Apply DFM principles for injection-molded plastic products, including draft angles, wall thicknesses, ribs, bosses, tolerances, and tooling considerations.

  • Material Selection: Recommend suitable materials based on function, durability, manufacturing requirements, and cost.

  • Product Visualization: Create visual simulations and realistic renderings that demonstrate the product’s appearance and functionality.

  • Prototype Evaluation: Review prototypes and refine designs to improve usability, durability, structural integrity, and manufacturability.

  • Product Improvement: Redesign existing products to enhance functionality, quality, customer experience, and production efficiency.

  • Manufacturing Readiness: Identify potential design, tooling, or production concerns and escalate them to the hiring manager. Implement approved revisions based on feedback from relevant stakeholders and manufacturing partners.

  • Project Management: Manage multiple concurrent product development projects based on priorities set with the hiring manager.

  • Progress Updates: Provide regular project updates and participate in weekly one-on-one meetings and design reviews.
