Job description

Application Developer / Systems Engineer

 

This position requires a Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Develop, test, and deploy software solutions that configure, automate, and manage enterprise infrastructure across Linux and Windows environments. Define infrastructure services architecture, create automation modules for infrastructure management, support deployment orchestration, and implement CI/CD practices while ensuring reliable and scalable application delivery. 

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Application Developer / Systems Engineer: $170,000–$185,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. 

Application Developer / Systems Engineer Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, test, and deploy software code that will configure and manage client hosting environments (Linux and Windows). 
  • Define the infrastructure services architecture. 
  • Create modules that automate the management of infrastructure environments. 
  • Support deployment orchestration for business applications and services. 
  • Configure application servers, load balancing and proxy servers, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), networks, and subnets. 
  • Design, build, and manage automated test frameworks and scripts supporting Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) for Puppet and business application code. 
  • Assess and debug issues with container services and applications. 
  • Support deployment orchestration for business applications and services into container environments. 
  • Help operations teams triage bugs and troubleshoot production issues. 
  • Deliver training, coaching, and support for engineering teams writing code to manage infrastructure and application configurations. 
  • Provide product vision, standards, and best practices for using configuration management software across the organization. 
  • Participate in team code reviews and design reviews. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Application Developer / Systems Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Puppet Certified Professional certification. 
  • Familiarity with container software (Docker and Kubernetes). 
  • Exposure to one or more programming languages (JavaScript, Java, .NET, Python, etc.). 
  • Experience with GitHub (or Git version control systems). 
  • Experience with Linux and Windows infrastructure environments. 
  • Knowledge of CI/CD methodologies. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills. 
  • Security Clearance: Not Specified. 
  • Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Infrastructure Development, Systems Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, Configuration Management, Application Deployment, Automation Engineering. 
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
