  • Negotiate directly with tow yards, storage facilities, repair shops, legal representatives, and other involved parties.
  • Develop and implement strategies aimed at achieving timely and cost-effective claim resolutions.
  • Maintain detailed file documentation, negotiation history, and decision rationale within claims systems.

Negotiation and Cost Mitigation

  • Analyze storage, towing, and related charges to identify opportunities for mitigation.
  • Conduct cost-benefit assessments and provide recommendations regarding dispute resolution options.
  • Influence external vendors and stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Escalate matters requiring management review and provide recommendations supported by financial analysis.

Litigation and Payment into Court (PIC)

  • Coordinate litigation-related activities and support the PIC process when negotiations are unsuccessful.
  • Prepare documentation required for legal review and court proceedings.
  • Work closely with internal and external legal partners to advance litigated files.
  • Track recovery opportunities and ensure proper handling of return-of-funds transactions.

Partnership and Collaboration

  • Partner with Total Loss, Salvage, Finance, Legal, and other Claims teams to ensure alignment on file strategy.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance regarding RSLA legislation, towing practices, and storage disputes.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.
  • Promote open communication and collaborative problem-solving across departments.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor trends involving repeat towing facilities, repair shops, and litigation outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce claim costs, improve cycle times, and strengthen operational controls.
  • Support reporting, governance, and tracking activities within the RSLA function.
  • Contribute to process enhancement initiatives and implementation of future-state operating practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Claims handling experience, preferably within Auto Claims, Total Loss, Subrogation, Salvage, or Litigation.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to review financial exposure and conduct cost-benefit analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of the Repair and Storage Liens Act (RSLA) and vehicle relocation processes.
  • Experience working with legal counsel, court processes, or litigation management.
  • Experience in Total Loss, Salvage, Subrogation, Recovery, or related claims disciplines.
  • Advanced analytical and reporting capabilities.

What Success Looks Like

  • Effective reduction of towing, storage, and related claim expenses.
  • Timely resolution of complex lien and relocation disputes.
  • Strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Sound decision-making supported by data and financial analysis.
