Job description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a full-time Remote Construction Estimator / Project Coordinator based in the Philippines to support construction and development projects throughout California.

The ideal candidate will be able to operate in a hybrid Construction Estimator + Project Coordinator/Project Manager capacity, with strong knowledge of California construction practices, estimating, plan review, permitting, and project coordination.

The successful candidate should have hands-on experience working with California General Contractors or California-based construction projects, particularly in residential construction, commercial construction, remodeling, multifamily, and ground-up projects.

This role requires a highly organized construction professional who can prepare accurate estimates and quantity takeoffs while also supporting project managers with scheduling, procurement, documentation, coordination, and project controls.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Preconstruction

  • Review architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and landscape plans.
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates.
  • Request, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Assist with proposal preparation and bid submissions.
  • Review plans and specifications for conflicts, discrepancies, omissions, and missing information.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and cost-tracking reports.
  • Assist with value engineering and cost optimization when required.
  • Support preconstruction activities from initial plans through bid preparation.

Project Coordination & Management

  • Support project managers with scheduling, procurement, and project coordination.
  • Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and other project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project schedules and identify potential delays or issues.
  • Prepare meeting notes, progress reports, and project updates.
  • Assist in tracking project milestones, budgets, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Follow up with subcontractors and vendors regarding bids, materials, schedules, and project requirements.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date project documentation.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to management as needed.

California Construction & Permitting

  • Review applicable California building code requirements for each project.
  • Assist with permit applications and responses to city plan-check comments.
  • Support coordination with local jurisdictions and permitting agencies.
  • Apply knowledge of California construction standards and practices to estimating and project coordination activities.


Requirements

  • Proven experience in construction estimating and/or project coordination/project management.
  • Strong understanding of California construction practices.
  • Experience working with or supporting California General Contractors is highly preferred.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • California residential construction
    • California commercial construction
    • Residential remodeling
    • Multifamily construction
    • Ground-up construction
    • California permitting
    • California building codes
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and construction drawings.
  • Experience preparing construction estimates and detailed quantity takeoffs.
  • Knowledge of RFIs, submittals, change orders, project schedules, procurement, and project controls.
  • Familiarity with California Building Code (CBC), California Residential Code (CRC), California Electrical Code (CEC), California Plumbing Code (CPC), and California Mechanical Code (CMC).
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with a California General Contractor.
  • Familiarity with Los Angeles City and County permitting processes.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, Buildertrend, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, or similar construction software.
  • Experience with residential remodeling, multifamily, commercial, and ground-up construction.
  • Understanding of public works projects and utility coordination.
  • Experience working with U.S.-based construction teams or clients.
