Civic & Social Organizations

SumOfUs.org is a new world-wide movement for a better global economy. Here’s what we stand for: -Governments that answer to citizens – not corporations -Fair treatment of workers and the right of every human being to make a living, safely and ethically, for themselves and their family; -The right of ordinary consumers to products that are produced and marketed ethically, sustainably and transparently; -The right of communities to manage and protect their own environment and natural resources; -Business models that put people and the planet first instead of being driven by shortsighted greed. Today's reality is different. We’ve witnessed again and again what happens when powerful corporations get their way: -Environmental and health catastrophes; -A global financial crisis that destroys entire economies; -Rising food prices and starving children; -Families globally losing their houses and land; -Poisons pouring into our air and water. You name it, corporations are behind it. But rather than being held accountable – their CEOs are often walking away with bonuses. And these injustices are largely left to continue unabated. But the world doesn’t have to be this way. We own the corporations that are causing all these problems. They rely on us to buy their products. They count on us to buy their stock. They need us to work for them. They need us to continue to elect governments that let them get away with murder. We are SumOfUs.org, and we’re not going to take it anymore.

Job description

Digital Communications & Campaigns Contractor (Part-Time)

About the role

Ekō is looking for a Digital Communications & Campaigns Contractor to support the digital communications work of the Insure Our Future (IOF) network, a global coalition campaigning to end insurance support for fossil fuel expansion and advance climate justice.

Working closely with the Campaign Director and partners across the network, you will help manage social media channels, coordinate content across multiple campaign workstreams, amplify partner actions, and contribute to digital campaigning efforts that increase public pressure on insurance industry targets.

This is an ideal role for someone who combines strong social media and content creation skills with a solid understanding of advocacy and campaigning. You are a strategic communicator who can translate complex issues into engaging content, work across diverse international partners, and help build narratives that move audiences and decision-makers to action.

You don’t need to be an expert in climate justice, fossil fuels, or insurance. We are looking for a strong digital communicator who can learn more on insurance and LNG.

This is a remote, part-time contractor position for an initial 6-month period, with the possibility of renewal and/or increased hours subject to funding. Candidates should be able to work within time zones spanning Europe to India.

Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on a combination of experience, seniority, and where you live. (For some context: this position in Italy would pay €35-€40 per hour depending on experience, seniority, and location. In other regions, compensation will be adjusted for local currency and local market rates.)

We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to racial equity and social justice.

What you'll do

Digital Communications & Social Media (50%)

  • Manage and grow the Insure Our Future social media channels, including LinkedIn and Instagram.

  • Work with creative agencies, designers, and content producers to develop campaign materials.
  • Monitor trends, identify opportunities, and recommend content that strengthens campaign visibility and audience engagement.
  • Support occasional paid digital advertising activities where relevant.
  • Track performance metrics and use insights to improve content effectiveness and audience growth.

Coalition Communications & Partner Coordination (30%)

  • Coordinate with partners across multiple working groups to identify communications opportunities and content needs.
  • Amplify partner actions, reports, events, media moments, and campaign activities across coalition channels.
  • Help ensure message consistency and narrative alignment across the network.
  • Support the development of shared communications plans around key campaign moments.
  • Manage website updates, including publishing blogs, reports, statements, and press releases.

  • Work closely with campaign leads to identify opportunities where digital communications can increase pressure on targets and strengthen public engagement.
  • Support media-facing moments through content production, amplification, and rapid-response communications.

Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of digital campaigning, public mobilisation, and narrative change strategies.
  • Experience coordinating communications across multiple stakeholders, partners, or organisations.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and respond quickly to emerging opportunities.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working remotely with international teams and partners.
