Job description

About the Role

This is a hands-on research role at an early-stage neurotechnology startup working at the intersection of neuroscience, technology, and medicine. You'll conduct groundbreaking research into brain health, human performance, and the nervous system — operating cutting-edge non-invasive neurotech devices, working directly with research participants, and contributing to studies that could reshape how we understand and support human health. Your work will have a direct impact on both the science and the company's direction from day one.

This role requires full-time, in-person availability in Boston, MA, six days per week, 9am–6pm. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

What You'll Do

  • Work directly with research participants during study sessions, ensuring their safety and comfort while collecting high-quality data

  • Operate, test, and maintain cutting-edge neurotechnology devices with precision and care

  • Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data to support ongoing research initiatives

  • Identify patterns in observations and translate findings into actionable insights

  • Improve research protocols, tools, and standard operating procedures based on real-world experience

  • Collaborate across neuroscience, engineering, medicine, and operations teams to solve complex problems

  • Take ownership of foundational projects that shape the future of the company

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

  • 2+ years of experience working in research, clinical, or laboratory environments — conducting studies, collecting data, or operating specialized equipment

  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with human research participants or patients in clinical or medical settings

  • Hands-on experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining specialized medical or scientific devices and instrumentation

  • Proficiency in experimental data collection, organization, and analysis using spreadsheets, databases, or statistical software

  • Experience designing, documenting, or improving research protocols and standard operating procedures

  • Background in neuroscience, biology, psychology, engineering, medicine, or a related life sciences discipline

  • Ability to identify patterns in experimental observations and translate them into actionable insights

  • Comfort working in fast-paced, high-urgency environments with multiple concurrent priorities

Nice to have:

  • Experience with clinical trial design, regulatory compliance, or IRB processes

  • Background in neurotechnology, brain-computer interfaces, or non-invasive neuromodulation

  • Experience in sleep science, sleep disorders, or sleep medicine research

  • Proficiency with data visualization or statistical analysis tools (R, Python, MATLAB) or laboratory information management systems (LIMS)

Above all, we value: genuine curiosity, a strong desire to learn, and the drive to tackle genuinely difficult problems. Exceptional ability and demonstrated hands-on experience matter more than any specific credential.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $80,000 – $120,000 USD annually

  • Early-stage equity opportunity

  • Direct impact and ownership in a small, fast-moving team
