Job Description:

Job Duck is seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to support a busy tenant law practice dedicated to empowering clients through strong advocacy and access to justice. In this role, you will play a vital part in case preparation, document management, client communication, and deadline tracking, helping ensure cases move forward efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with excellent writing skills who enjoys working in a fast paced legal environment and takes ownership of their responsibilities. Success in this position requires reliability, attention to detail, comfort with technology, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service while supporting meaningful legal work. • Monthly compensation range: 1150 USD to 1220 USD

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain accurate records within firm systems and databases

  • Schedule mediations and coordinate related logistics

  • Support daily legal and administrative operations to promote efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensure case files remain organized, complete, and easily accessible
  • Draft discovery responses and legal correspondence as assigned

  • Provide clients with updates regarding the status of their cases

  • Download, organize, and maintain documents in the appropriate digital folders
  • Calendar deadlines and monitor critical case dates
  • Support attorneys with case preparation and ongoing case management
  • Prepare and manage legal filings and supporting documentation

  • Assist with the preparation, review, and organization of legal documents

  • Conduct legal and case-related research

Requirements:

•Working Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST

• Industry: Tenant Law

•2-3 years of experience supporting attorneys, legal professionals, or law firms preferred

•Experience with legal document preparation, legal research, and case management support preferred

•Basic understanding of California legal procedures is a strong plus

•Strong written and verbal English communication skills required

•Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in a remote environment

•Comfortable using AI tools or willing to learn and incorporate AI into daily workflows

•Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while managing deadlines effectively

•Software and Tools Required: LawCus, Airtable, Dropbox, Google Workspace, Quo
