Job description

OVERVIEW

Join our pharmacy team in a rewarding role that combines advanced pharmacy technician responsibilities with direct patient support and clinical service coordination. You’ll help improve medication access, safety, adherence, and patient outcomes while supporting pharmacists and delivering exceptional care.

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday

SHIFT: 8am to 6pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Able to perform all job duties and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician I, II and III
  • Obtain a medication history and update patient allergy and adverse drug reactions
  • Report quality related events, create and manage reports for monthly peer review or appropriately triage clinical question or information to a clinical pharmacist
  • Manage, market, and promote efficient bedside dispensing (Meds2Beds) for those locations offering that service
  • Coordinate medication synchronization and adherence monitoring
  • Identify, schedule, and room the patient for value added pharmacist clinical services
  • Administer immunizations as appropriate
  • Benefits investigation, prior authorization, and patient assistance program management
  • Perform final product verification in Wisconsin
  • Perform additional tasks delegated by the pharmacist

SPECIALTY TECHNICIAN ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Specialty technicians may be responsible or required to perform and duties and responsibilities listed above
  • Responsible for care coordination by communicating with patients, clinic partners, payers and external pharmacies as appropriate
  • Partner with providers and clinics to promote the use of entity owned pharmacies
  • Document in the electronic medical record to promote efficient and accurate care for patients in accordance with HIPAA
  • Follow procedures to ensure medications are dispensed accurately and prepared appropriately for shipment or delivery to the patient
  • Identify medications requiring special storage or handling such as refrigerated, hazardous or controlled substances

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

High School Diploma or GED required

Graduate of a pharmacy technician program preferred

Three years of pharmacy technician experience

CERTIFICATION LICENSURE (RETAIL TECHNICIAN)             

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required

CPR or BLS certified

ACPE Accredited Immunization Training Certification

Illinois Licensure required, if employed in Illinois

Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician Registration required, if employed in Wisconsin

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE (SPECIALTY TECHNICIAN)             

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required

Illinois Licensure required, if employed in Illinois

Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician Registration required, if employed in Wisconsin.

                                    

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Passing the Drivers License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).

Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.

Must be able to follow written oral instructions.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Work requires a moderate level of independent judgment along with good interpretative and interpersonal skills with justification and accountability to Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Supervisor, Manager, and or Director.

PAY RANGE:

$23.18 - $33.62
