Job description

OVERVIEW

Seeking an experienced Coding & Charge Capture Supervisor to lead and coordinate team activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely claim submission. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of governmental regulations and payer guidelines, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across Revenue Cycle departments to optimize workflows and support financial performance.

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Shift: Day Shift Hours

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Oversees the daily operations by monitoring workload and productivity of partners to achieve weekly and monthly goals while ensuring accuracy of work.
  • Assists in the development of guidelines, policies, and procedures for areas of responsibility, retain compliant with governmental regulations or other reporting obligations as required by contract.
  • Coordinates coding and quality audits to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and/or third party requirements. Report any infractions to direct supervisor.
  • Manages daily charge capture process ensuring timely and accurate claim submission. Provide information to providers and/or pertinent partners on missing and/or inaccurate charges.
  • Coordinates projects with all revenue cycle entities.
  • Serves as a resource for clinical departments in providing guidance for correct reporting to third party payers, including regulatory compliance.
  • Trains and develops new and current partners; ensures retention of most effective and budgeted FTEs. Assesses and addresses performance issues through the timely use of coaching, feedback and corrective action. Perform all other HR related duties including hiring and termination of staff, payroll and performance.
  • Liaison between Coding and Information Systems Departments identifying new or changed compliance updates and optimization functionality.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE  

High School graduate or equivalent

Associates degree in a directly related field or at least 8 years’ experience in provider coding or billing required

Bachelor's degree preferred

Minimum 3 years recent supervisory experience and 3-5 years recent related work

Experience in a multi-specialty medical practice

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other equivalent coding certification required

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring)

Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check

Must be able to follow written/oral instructions

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

While performing the duties of this job, the partner is regularly required to talk and hear. Eyesight to identify numbers, folders, colors, and computer printouts. Speech to communicate one-on-one and over the telephone.  Manual dexterity to operate keyboards, mouse and telephones. Prolonged sitting; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The partner is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The partner must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining partners; addressing complaints and resolving problems; partner adherence to annual education and certification requirements

SUPERVISES

Directly supervises partners in the Coding Department. Supervisory responsibilities are conducted in accordance with directives of management, the organization's policies, and applicable laws.            

PAY RANGE:

$59,973.61 - $89,960.42
