Summary:

The Database Administrator VI provides senior-level database administration, development, performance tuning, data management, backup and recovery, and database integration support for EFMSS and associated systems. This position is responsible for maintaining database availability, integrity, performance, security, and recoverability while supporting application, reporting, and data requirements.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Install, configure, upgrade and maintain database(s) and underlying server infrastructure. This includes updating processes, data flows, and objects (usually shown in diagrams).
  • Maintain databases at recommended maintenance levels prescribed by the product manufacturer.
  • Monitor data retrieval from the database to determine performance improvements.
  • Provide database performance tuning in support of improving applications performance and system-wide database contention and concurrent user tuning.
  • Maintain performance and tuning plans for online processes and databases.
  • Develop and maintain interfaces to allow existing exterior systems to exchange data and provide unique support required for various database applications.
  • Maintain a complete inventory of database and application interconnections and interfaces.
  • Assure maximum continuity of operations by minimizing database and data replication downtime associated with database modification or recovery.
  • Perform data/database backup and recovery routines for data integrity and recoverability.
  • Provide support to software and report developers with developing efficient application and report queries.
  • Provide support to software and report developers to troubleshoot issues that may be database or data related.
  • Maintain changes to the existing database structures and maintain software to provide synchronization.
  • Develop database solutions for application requirements when defined.
  • Perform production control and quality control functions (batch submissions, checking and corrections).
  • Merge data from various data sources import/export data from databases; extract and combine data from different sources.
  • Ensure that input data and output data and databases are correct and continually checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • Correct data accuracy and completeness errors when identified.
  • Produce exports of specific subsets of data.
  • Provide analysis of data and anomaly identification.
  • Recommend and implement corrective measures.
  • Develop data management and analysis procedures.
Qualifications:

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of database administration, development, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and data management.
  • Knowledge of database architecture, structures, interfaces, data flows, and integration.
  • Knowledge of database security, availability, integrity, and recoverability practices.
  • Knowledge of data quality, analysis, and data management principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex database and data-related problems.
  • Ability to develop database solutions supporting application requirements.
  • Ability to analyze data quality, performance, and system behavior.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in database administration, database development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience administering production databases.
  • Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and data integrity processes.
  • Experience developing or maintaining database interfaces and data exchanges.
  • Required to successfully pass a background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Database Administration, or a related technical field.

 

Pay and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000 to $140,000.
