Estimator / Project Controls Engineer

PrimECS is a U.S.-based civil construction and engineering company supporting infrastructure projects across the United States. We are building a high-performing remote team to support estimating, design, and project delivery.

Role

We are looking for an Estimator / Project Controls Engineer to handle cost estimating, tracking, and project controls for infrastructure projects.

This is not a support role. You will be responsible for building estimates, tracking costs, and improving systems.

This role is execution-focused. You are expected to work independently, build structure, and deliver accurate outputs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, civil works)
• Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing (labor, materials, equipment)
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Track project costs and monitor budget vs. actual performance
• Support cost forecasting and reporting
• Develop Excel-based tools and templates for estimating and reporting
• Improve and standardize cost control processes
• Coordinate with estimating, project management, and finance teams

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Minimum 5 years experience (10+ preferred) in estimating or project controls
• Experience in infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, civil)
• Strong understanding of construction methods, labor, equipment, and materials
• Strong Excel skills (required)
• Analytical and detail-oriented
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be able to work in U.S. EST business hours
• Reliable internet connection
