Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for US-based voice actors with an authentic Southern American English accent and experience in voice acting, narration, broadcasting, podcasting, or professional audio recording.

This role supports a short-term remote project focused on developing natural, expressive, and human-like text-to-speech systems for an internal customer-experience AI agent. Selected professionals will record high-quality scripted audio, maintain consistent vocal delivery across sessions, and produce varied performances covering conversational, instructional, narrative, and customer-service scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

Professional Voice Recording

  • Record high-quality voice samples across conversational, narrative, instructional, and customer-service scripts
  • Deliver clear, natural, and expressive speech with strong control over tone, pacing, pronunciation, and emphasis
  • Maintain consistent voice quality, accent, energy, and delivery across recording sessions
  • Perform multiple takes with variations in emotion, style, and vocal intensity when required

Southern American Accent Delivery

  • Provide an authentic Southern American English accent reflecting regional speech patterns
  • Maintain natural pronunciation and rhythm without exaggerating or stereotyping the accent
  • Adapt delivery for conversational, professional, calm, energetic, and instructional contexts
  • Preserve clarity and intelligibility while retaining authentic regional characteristics

Recording Quality & Technical Standards

  • Follow detailed requirements covering microphone setup, recording environment, file format, and audio quality
  • Record in a quiet, controlled environment using professional or near-professional equipment
  • Review files for background noise, clipping, inconsistent volume, pronunciation issues, and unwanted artifacts
  • Organise and submit recordings according to project naming and delivery standards

Performance Review & Revisions

  • Apply direction and project feedback across subsequent recording sessions
  • Re-record selected lines when pronunciation, tone, pacing, or technical quality requires adjustment
  • Maintain reliable turnaround times across assigned scripts
  • Support consistent voice quality throughout the project lifecycle

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • Native Southern American English proficiency and an authentic regional accent
  • Current residence in the United States
  • Professional experience in voice acting, narration, dubbing, podcasting, broadcasting, or related audio work
  • Strong command of diction, intonation, pacing, vocal consistency, and emotional range
  • Ability to follow scripts precisely while maintaining natural delivery
  • Access to a professional or near-professional microphone and a quiet recording environment
  • Reliable availability for approximately 5–10 hours per week
  • Comfort with the voice-cloning use described for this specific project

Educational Background

  • Formal education in acting, voice performance, broadcasting, theatre, communications, audio production, or a related field is helpful
  • Professional voiceover training, dialect coaching, or studio-recording experience is highly relevant
  • Equivalent practical experience demonstrated through a voice reel or professional portfolio may also be considered
  • Technical training in audio recording or post-production may be valuable

Nice to Have

  • Experience recording content for text-to-speech systems, IVR platforms, audiobooks, or conversational assistants
  • Familiarity with Audacity, Adobe Audition, Reaper, or comparable audio-editing software
  • Ability to deliver multiple vocal styles, including conversational, corporate, energetic, warm, and calm
  • Experience working from detailed pronunciation and performance guidelines
  • Familiarity with remote studio workflows and structured file-delivery requirements
  • Previous involvement in speech-data collection, audio annotation, or voice-technology projects

Why This Opportunity

  • Apply professional voice-acting skills to a focused remote recording project
  • Contribute to the development of more natural and expressive speech technology
  • Work with scripts covering varied tones, formats, and customer-experience scenarios
  • Use an authentic Southern American accent in a structured professional setting
  • Participate in a flexible short-term assignment with competitive hourly compensation

  • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
  • A professional or near-professional recording setup is required
  • Voice recordings may be used to create a cloned voice for a specific internal customer-experience AI agent
  • Recordings are intended only for this defined use case and are not intended for sale, licensing, or reuse in unrelated products or datasets
