About the role

  • Provide deep technical expertise in Naval power and energy systems, including hardware performance, physics, and component controls, and supervisory system controls 
  • Deliver client-facing models, simulations, and reports 
  • Develop, test, and validate software for supervisory control of Naval power systems 

What you'll do

  • Develop software to implement supervisory controls for power systems  
  • Support technical execution of power system modeling & simulation projects 
  • Build and validate models using MATLAB/Simulink 
  • Build and validate models for real-time simulation environments for use in hardware-in-the-loop environments 

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoW Secret Clearance 
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • 8+ years of professional experience in electrical power systems and/or microgrids 
  • Deep expertise with MATLAB/Simulink 
  • Experience with supervisory control methods for power systems, especially maritime systems (e.g., machinery control systems, electric plant control systems) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to deliver clear technical reports and concise briefings to stakeholders 

Preferred Skills and qualifications: 

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline 
  • 5+ years of experience in naval power systems design 
  • Expertise programming in Python, C++, or similar  
  • Deep expertise in real-time simulation & testing with Speedgoat or equivalent HIL platform 
  • Experience in energy storage system design, modeling, and optimization  
  • Expertise in laboratory testing, system integration, and data-driven validation 
  • Expertise in electric machines and motor drives 
  • Experience developing models for shipboard HM&E (hull, mechanical, and electrical) systems 
  • Experience with Navy customers
