Your Impact

The Multimedia Communications Specialist will play a central role in strengthening how NERC communicates critical reliability and security information across digital channels. Working closely with the External Communications team, this position will develop high-quality multimedia content, including graphics, videos, presentations, social media assets, website visuals, and infographics to make technical information clear, accessible, and engaging for key audiences.


This role reports to the Manager, External Communications, and requires strong judgment, attention to detail, visual storytelling skills, consistent initiative, and the ability to translate complex subject matter into clear, professional communications products. The ideal candidate will be creative, collaborative, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining NERC’s brand, editorial, and accessibility standards.


Your Role

  • Develop high-quality multimedia content, including graphics, short-form videos, website visuals, infographics, social media assets, motion graphics, and other digital materials in support of NERC’s External Communications’ efforts
  • Translate complex reliability, security, and regulatory topics into clear, accurate, and visually engaging communications products for NERC’s key audiences
  • Create and maintain visual assets, templates, and digital asset libraries that align with NERC’s brand, editorial, and accessibility standards
  • Manage social media content calendar; draft, schedule, and post content across NERC’s platforms, including LinkedIn, X, and YouTube
  • Monitor social media activity, platform updates, and key metrics; provide recurring media and digital reporting, including daily news clips, weekly sentiment reporting, and other quarterly communications products and social media performance reports
  • Ensure deliverables meet technical specifications for relevant platforms and formats (website, intranet, social media, presentations, etc.)
  • Present creative ideas, concepts, and design rationale to the External Communications team and internal stakeholders
  • Other duties, as assigned


A successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in multimedia, graphic design, communications, digital media, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience developing multimedia, digital, social, or visual communications content, preferably in a technical or regulated environment
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects; experience with Canva, Hootsuite or similar tools for creating and managing digital assets 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience with static design, motion/video work, social media assets, and other multimedia communications products
  • Strong foundation in visual design fundamentals: typography, composition, color theory, layout, visual hierarchy, and accessibility
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, including LinkedIn, X, and YouTube with experience developing, scheduling, and evaluating content
  • Experience with web content, analytics, media monitoring, and reporting tools preferred 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy, formatting, and brand consistency 
  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and stakeholder feedback

  • Limited travel is necessary.
  • This position is classified as exempt.
  • This position is Remote/Virtual. Must be able to travel to NERC office and member organizations as required. Reimbursement of travel expenses will be in accordance with the company’s travel and expense reimbursement policies.
