  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management for accounting and finance staff; set clear expectations, establish priorities, monitor workload, and support professional development.
  • Oversee accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, financial performance analysis, and management reporting for senior leadership.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, accounting procedures, and documentation to support compliance, audit readiness, and scalable financial operations.
  • Coordinate payroll processing and related controls through ADP, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll activity in partnership with HR and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the internal financial systems lead for Unanet ERP, ensuring accurate project accounting, reporting, data integrity, and effective use of system capabilities.
  • Prepare and manage audit and tax documentation, support external auditors and tax advisors, and ensure timely responses to financial information requests.
  • Serve as a key liaison to the Company’s strategic fractional CFO and Board of Advisors, including preparing, refining, and delivering financial reporting, analysis, and materials in support of external financial oversight and strategic decision-making.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial projections, and variance analysis to support business planning and executive decision-making.
  • Partner with operations leaders to evaluate financial performance, identify trends, strengthen cost controls, and support profitability across contracts and service lines.
  • Provide expertise, as needed, with RFQ/RFP pricing, indirect rate support, and financial inputs for government contracting opportunities.
  • Support compliance with applicable government contracting requirements, including FAR, DFARS, GSA Schedule considerations, and related accounting practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, accountability, and transparency across finance and accounting operations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline required; CPA and/or master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably within a small to mid-sized government contracting environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Controller, Director of Finance, or comparable senior financial leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing, coaching, and developing accounting or finance team members, including assigning work, reviewing performance, strengthening accountability, and building team capability.
  • Hands-on experience with Unanet ERP required or strongly preferred; knowledge of project accounting and government contract reporting within an ERP environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience coordinating or overseeing payroll through ADP or a comparable payroll platform.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
  • Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, GSA Schedules, and government contracting financial practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to present financial information clearly to executive leadership and non-financial stakeholders.
  • High level of judgment, discretion, ownership, and follow-through; must be a self-starter, collaborative team player, and hands-on leader who can balance strategy with execution.
