Job description

Who We Are

Inspiren offers a complete and connected technology ecosystem for senior living. Founded by Michael Wang, a former Green Beret and cardiothoracic nurse, Inspiren was built on the belief that compassionate care and technology can and should coexist.

Our integrated solutions fit into existing workflows and give senior-living operators greater visibility into what is happening across their communities. Supported by nurse specialists and powerful analytics, Inspiren helps teams make informed clinical and operational decisions that improve efficiency, outcomes, and quality of care.

You’ll join a growing global team united by a shared mission, with a new NYC office designed to strengthen collaboration and in-person connection.

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Product Manager, Perception Hardware & Systems, to own Inspiren’s connected system of systems. This role will unify our current hardware and all future devices. Embedded within our hardware and embedded teams, this is a deeply technical senior PM role sitting at the intersection of hardware engineering, embedded, software, and data.

You will define system-level requirements and trade-offs across hardware, embedded, and software so that communities experience a seamless, clinically effective safety system. You will lead discovery on new and existing hardware types, partnering with hardware and commercial teams to evaluate sensing technologies and device configurations, assess technical feasibility and regulatory constraints, and tie recommendations to business expansion opportunities. You will own the access criteria across all development phases, from PRD kick-off through concept, EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production and be accountable to how the hardware shows up in the world. You will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation process and experience, inclusive of software.

This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role. You will be the connective tissue between hardware, embedded, software, AI, and our implementation teams. Your work directly affects resident safety in the communities we serve, and your decisions will define how Inspiren’s system of systems evolves. This role reports to the Head of Product.

What you’ll do

  • Own the System of Systems: Define and maintain system-level requirements across all current hardware and future devices. Serve as the authoritative voice on how devices collaborate, communicate, and fail gracefully together.

  • Champion the Voice of the Customer: Build and maintain a deep, data-informed understanding of operators, community executives, residents, families, and frontline staff, and use it to define requirements, prioritize trade-offs, and validate outcomes.

  • Lead discovery on new and existing hardware types: Partner with hardware, software and commercial teams to evaluate sensing technologies and device configurations, assess technical feasibility and regulatory constraints, and tie recommendations directly to business expansion opportunities (e.g., new product SKUs, market expansion opportunities and new verticals, and stronger unit economics).

  • Define Hardware Phase Success: Define what success looks like from PRD kick-off through Concept, EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production. Translate end user needs, unit economics, business and clinical goals into clear requirements for each phase, and ensure teams stay aligned on the product outcomes we’re driving toward at every milestone.

  • Lead Cross-Functional Strategy & Execution: Communicate effectively across the entire company, tailoring depth and framing for commercial, implementation, operations, and engineering teams.

  • Partner with Implementation: Work closely with the implementation team to translate real-world deployment constraints into product requirements. Own the end-to-end implementation experience, including software.

  • Drive AI-Powered Product Development: Use AI daily as a multiplier: from the moment discovery kicks off through to post launch iterations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product management experience with deep ownership of hardware-enabled systems, including hardware, embedded systems, and hardware-software integration.

  • End-to-end ownership of defining success for hardware development: accountable for launching profitable new SKUs and for setting success criteria, system-level requirements, and cross-device trade-offs from PRD and concept through EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production.

  • Strong technical foundation in perception and sensing technologies (cameras, radar, thermal, BLE beacons, audio) and ability to translate real-world functionality into complex cross-device system requirements.

  • Proven ability to define willingness to pay and build a detailed cost model for a multi-device hardware network, including COGS with full BOM and target gross margin, and to use this model to inform trade-off decisions.

  • Proven ability to work fluently with hardware, embedded and software engineers on technical requirements, constraints, and system-level trade-offs—you can hold your own in a schematic review or an embedded debug session.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, durable system requirements, technical PRDs, and trade-off analyses for both engineering and leadership audiences.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with safety-critical or regulated device environments (UL2560/UL 1069, FDA, FCC, or medical device standards).

  • Experience in healthcare, senior living, or clinical settings where reliability, privacy, and trust are paramount.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML applied to on-device sensing data, telemetry anomaly detection, or perception pipelines.
