GrammaTech is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and scale the organization's foundational data infrastructure, delivering secure, enterprise-grade data solutions that extend beyond traditional data pipeline development. In this role you will be responsible for architecting and implementing cloud-based Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and scalable data platforms while developing, maintaining, and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise data warehouses. The engineer collaborates across technical teams to support program objectives, drive innovation, and continuously improve data engineering capabilities throughout the contract.

Clearance Requirement

  • Active Secret clearance preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain cloud-based Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and scalable enterprise data platforms.
  • Develop, optimize, and support ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise data engineering solutions.
  • Design secure, scalable AWS architectures that align with software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.
  • Communicate technical architecture decisions, tradeoffs, and risks to both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Apply data engineering best practices to ensure solutions are secure, reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
  • Support technical activities across the program while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, serving in both technical lead and individual contributor roles as needed.
  • Independently research, troubleshoot, and resolve technical challenges using available documentation and industry resources.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in AWS architecture and cloud-based data engineering solutions.
  • Experience designing and implementing Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and scalable cloud data platforms.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more of the following: Python, Java, Scala, SQL, or R.
  • Experience with modern data technologies such as SQL, NoSQL databases, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and Amazon Kinesis.
  • Experience with AWS Glue and AWS Athena.
  • Deep understanding of data engineering principles, data modeling, and scalable data processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of secure software engineering practices, including developing testable, maintainable, and secure code.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to contribute effectively in both lead and support roles.


The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000 per year.  This range is based on the Company's good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual salary will take into consideration various factors such as role level, experience, expertise, and education.
