Duration: 12 months
Details:

Insurance Professional Service Experience Portfolio

This Product Owner will support a high-priority Retail Markets initiative to launch a new product platform and own service-related journeys for employees, independent agents, and other insurance professionals.

They will partner across Research, Design, Technology, Architecture, business, platform, and enablement teams to deliver scalable, customer-focused solutions while managing dependencies and ensuring teams have the clarity and information needed to succeed.

The role will balance current-product policy information needs with new data and experience requirements for the go-forward product. Success will require strong attention to detail, the ability to clarify ambiguous needs, and skill in translating complex requirements into actionable solutions. The Product Owner will also support onboarding new user groups by introducing capabilities and experiences that address needs not currently supported by the application.

Product Owner I/II

  • Focus: Develop new policy information views and Customer 360 capabilities within the Service application. Support the transition from current-product policy information needs to the data and experiences required for the go-forward product. Work cross-functionally with Technology, UX, platform, enablement, and business partners to clarify requirements, manage dependencies, gather feedback, and deliver capabilities aligned to the product roadmap.

Overall Product Owner Roles

  • As a member of the Agile team, the Product Owner represents the voice of the customer and the organization through the delivery of business value. This person works closely with stakeholders—business and technology, including line-of-business leadership—to define and prioritize features and stories, ensuring alignment with customer needs and organizational goals.
  • The Product Owner understands customers’ problems in detail and ensures those problems are clearly defined, prioritized, and connected to the most valuable work. This person maintains ongoing communication with stakeholders to ensure an aligned understanding of how the squad or team can provide the highest value to the customer through the lens of the portfolio. The Product Owner also collaborates with squads, teams, technology, and architecture across portfolios to develop a deep understanding of the technologies and systems they support.

In This Role, You Can Expect To:

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, roadmap, user stories, and acceptance criteria for service-related journeys in the insurance professional application.
  • Translate complex or ambiguous business needs into clear requirements by asking thoughtful questions, uncovering gaps, and ensuring shared understanding across stakeholders.
  • Balance policy information needs for the current product with new data, capabilities, and experiences required for the go-forward product.
  • Work across multiple squads and partner teams, including platform, enablement, Technology, Architecture, Research, Design, and business teams.
  • Manage cross-team dependencies by ensuring partner teams have the requirements, decisions, timing, and context needed to deliver successfully.
  • Support onboarding of new user groups by understanding their workflows and introducing data and experiences that may not currently exist in the application.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams to clarify requirements, remove roadblocks, and participate in planning, demos, retrospectives, and other team ceremonies.
  • Communicate product vision, priorities, expected value, delivery timing, and changes to stakeholders.
  • Consider customer needs, product health, KPIs, feasibility, cost, risk, and regulatory or compliance requirements when making product decisions.
  • Contribute to customer research, usability testing, roadmap development, and portfolio-level planning.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management, typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field—such as business, computer science, humanities, or a related discipline—and a minimum of 3–5 years of direct experience working with Agile teams and approximately 7 years of experience in business, technology, or consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience translating complex, evolving, or ambiguous business needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify gaps, clarify assumptions, and drive shared understanding across diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating work across multiple teams and managing dependencies among product, platform, enablement, technology, and business partners.
  • Ability to explain complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences and educate business areas on product vision, plans, and the impact of change.
  • Ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders and demonstrate strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to make sound, timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to lead teams toward solutions and progress.
  • Experience supporting the launch or adoption of products, applications, or capabilities by new user groups preferred.
  • Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolios preferred.
  • Strong experimental mindset and comfort driving innovation in an environment of uncertainty.
